Default My proposal on how to get Faction leaders in the game (has never been suggested before).

Hello. So we all know how important authority is, along with loyalty it determines how likely a character from betraying you. If your faction leader has no authority then your generals and especially captains will be likely to betray you. In Hyrule total war you have no faction leader, thus no authority.

So I have thought up a plan on how to get faction leaders in the game without enabling REAL adoption.

First off the family tree will be off just as it is now.

Then this is what could happen.

Rather then having an anti-adoption script there would actually be faction leaders and adoption, the same way the Teutonic order works.

However here is why I this plan could work. I noticed that in third age every time you play the General adoption notices are the same every time you play. Does this mean the stats and names can be influenced beforehand?

Every time you get an adoption notice here is what it would be. The General would have a blank name or a name that says something like DO NOT USE, BROKEN. The General's portrait would be blank. The Generals stats would be bad stats that would make you not want the general.
0 command, 0 loyalty, 0 dread, 0 chivalry, 0 piety. On top of that the general would have tons of stats that decrease troop moral, public order, tax mining and farming output, population growth, and hit points.

So do you guys think this would work? If your name is Undyingnephilam do you think its worth a try?

That to me would be very immersion breaking, and would really ruin the experience. On another note are you sure that adoption has been completely disabled? I was playing as the River Zora once and the General Barakuda Khan or whatever was adopted into my family. This happened in the version 3 release by the way.

It is, but sometimes it bugs out.

On another note I am aware that my idea would require you to click reject a lot, however I think it would be worth it.
The faction leader not only has to do with authority but also has to do with diplomacy.

It is supposed to be disabled. I will note what happened there as a bug. Anyway, my concern is that it seems like whenever you reject an adoption request, you get another adoption request the next turn. This happened to me whenever I the bug in the last version that spawned duplicate generals and enabled adoption occurred. I'm worried that it would force players to click the reject button every turn, becoming a real nuisance. I don't know if this will be the case, but it seems likely from my experience.

Oh, ho, ho! A worthy challenge! I shall love him, and sculpt him and make him tyrant king.

I made a suggestion a long while ago about what might work for the whole faction leader/ generals issue. In Medieval's Teutonic Campaign the Teutonic Order is a chaste military order ans as such has no family tree. They do however still have the faction leader (Hochmeister) and when he dies the faction heir (Marshal) takes his place. Working with this idea we can still have the faction leader with authority over the generals and still not have the family tree as it has no place in this mod.

I do believe I said the family tree would be disabled and it would work like the Teutonic order in my first post.

The Problem is, that Generals, who are adopted or born the normal way have a picture determined by culture and not the faction, which means with your method a Zora General would look the same as a Hylian.
Sorry for my english, I try to do my best

I am fully aware at how portriats work. You seemed to have missed a big chunk of my article.

I agree with Kahath and Avatar. I think it would be better to find some way to work with the game's adoption system, rather than against it.

Can these per-culture portraits be overridden? Because they could just be set to something generic like a helmet and crossed swords or the HTW logo or something, rather than an actual picture of a person. That way it wouldn't matter if zoras and hylians used the same picture.

That'd be kinda lame. They'd also stick out considering every other unit has faction specific art of a 'person' and not just some form of logo or object.
