Default Map system exploitable in multiplayer?

Since we can now save our favourite maps and use them in multiplayer at a later date, I think this might allow some people to really take advantage of terrain and make sure their opponents are always at disadvantage. We all know some people play to win at any cost and I can see them using maps that place them on a hill every time while the opponent is at the bottom.

Although we will essentially get unlimited maps which is good, I hope there is some system in place to stop this from happening, like maybe the ability to see the topography of the battlefield before starting the battle, that way we can not even bother to start the battle if we see people doing this.

Good thought, but we'll just have to wait and see.

As I understood it, if you play in the ranked matches, you'll only fight on the preset 'balanced' maps. I'm assuming the custom map selector is for non-ranked battles and custom battles vs AI.

it would be really dumb if they didnt think about that and did sth to prevent it

it should be pretty easy to make sure the starting area of the armies are always random. or to have balanced battlemaps.

however, there will always be people who will camp and turtle once they re on a advantagous spot

Since people are allowed to make rules for custom battles(aka battle list) that exclude camping, art, spam ect. and quick battles, which are the only ones that get you onto the leaderboards, have preset maps and probably capture points, you gotta give people who want to... let me use a politically acceptable term, play defensively on some elevated position a place to do just that.

I for one never expect a simple and fair battle when I go into a strangers setup battle in the battle list. Unless that is exactly what is says in the description.

I really hope there's a grassy flatland for testing units and what not.
