The game hangs on loading any option from the main menu

I've had TATW for more than 2 months now and have played it without problems until yesterday. Suddenly, the game hangs when I try to select any of the options on the main menu. I get to this menu without problems but once I click on any of the option, I simply get stuck on the loading screen. There is no movement on the ring's writing at the bottom of the screen which would normally indicate loading progress. But the "timer" ring moves around as normal, just nothing else happens. I've tried Continue Campaign, Historical Battle etc., but it's the same for all options. I have tried to leave the screen open to see if eventually an error message would come up but it doesn't.

I have deleted the 2 geography files and disabled the daylight savings settings without luck.

My computer is a Windows 7 system and I am on TATW 3.2. with all 4 files installed. As I said, I had no problems until recently with my installation and nothing special happened before the issue started.

Did you have any recent Windows Update, or Graphics Card update perhapse? If yes, revert to previous System Restore point and see does that fix the issue.
