Default Post your 2.6 Campaigns and first impressions here!

Well i thought this would deserve a thread of it's own, instead of spamming the other 2 that are more oriented towards solving issues with the patch.

    Let me start:

Just installed the patch 10 mins ago and, obviously, started a campaign with Sparta on VH/H

First thing that i noticed was how the economy changed to the better. It's considerably harder to make money now, even though im just a few turns into the campaign.

Compared to before, i had to disband most of my initial units - including the elite ones - and had to rely on cheap buildings to get me out of the red zone.

Very high taxes? You can forget about that. As you'll see by checking out a new trait, high taxes will have a gradual negative impact on public order.

What made matters worse? Sparta was ready to be upgraded and i have no money and that had an immediate impact on PO as well. Im on the yellow, bordering the blue zone.

That is to say: good job RS team!!!

Just wondering, why don't you use your units in battle before disbanding them?

Paedric: Well i noticed there's a few diplomatic changes with the new patch. As sparta, after the first turn, the alliance with Rome is broken and neutrality with the GCS is achieved, along with the rebels being neutral as well ( which i found weird at first). I reckoned i'd take advantage of that peaceful period a bit, but that also means disbanding my units in exchange for economic growth.

But now it doesn't really matter since the GCS are aggressive since they took out the rebels and now lay siege to Sparta.

    Tone: This is 1 turn

An aggressive GCS at early on sure adds flavor to the campaign. Iim on my 4th defense of Sparta

I installed on top of my current 2.5 install, deleted all of my saves and restarted my Armenian campaign M/H. I fast played in about twenty turns. First thought are my Cata Archers have been nerfed, Nakharar Cav's defense boosted. And Econ changed made to slow my money growth down. I feel like I'm going to have to charge some of my cheap units into early battles and then disband. Try to get mines and wine going. Capture a few port cities and try to play nice-nice with Seleucia this go around...I'll restart tonight and play for realz.

But so far, good job and a big thank you to the mod crew. Much obliged.

The new event pics are nice and the battles are improved too, I think.

The ancillaries and traits much improved now as well; not seeing any sodomy-crazed alcoholics yet. Maybe that happens more after the Imperial Reforms

Funny you should start exactly the same campaign i was testing for a few turns.
You sorted out the situation but using the fact that the Rebel cities of the Pellopoenese and Corinth are unwalled, i think you best option was storming the place in a quick starting campaign.
After that you get to positive income.

Just a reminder that VH campaigns are STILL not. Try Hard - it's subjectively 'better'.

I don't know why I'm thinking this, but... Do guys have something made with the AI? (funny question)
I had 2 battles yesterday and in both the AI acted more agressive then before. In the second battle there where 2 archer units. First they ran to me, which led me thinking they make suicide... Nope. Both stopped suddenly and shooted at my archers. First unit whipped out with 2 Xenophontos, Second shoot to pieces. Next thing (in the first battle): I moved on with one Promachoi unit, that made a gap in the line. The enemy sent one unit of missile cavalry at my fighting units. But they ridded away and straight in the gap and attack my archers.

For a short moment I thought: "What the...!!" But my cavalry destroyed them. That was unexpected. I really like it somehow. It's very good.

:sigh: Ten years into my Armenia campaign and my alliance with the Seleucids is shot. The last two years I've tried to maintain our peace, but they just keep attacking again. Last night they decided to siege Van, my capital, and I was trapped with a half stack, while they had 2+ stacks but pretty much all Phalanx. I won just by initiating the attack and provoking him to the walls. Lame, I know. Anyway, it's back on like Donkey Kong with Seleucia for this campaign.

Did you guys made any changes to diplomacy?

Edit: There something really different here. Factions are considerably more aggressive. Im seeing factions being taken out completly at early stages of te game

Great looking event pictures and it's much more challenging now than I had expected which is good enough for me. I'm going to play all night with my Roman Campaign to reach the Imperial Reforms and see how it all goes. Hopefully there will be no more surprises.

I'd +rep the whole lot of you guys on the team but I've got a 24 hour wait.
Good job with the new patch.
