    Default legionaries from other factions

I was looking on total war heaven for some info on faction units, and i noticed something...a lot of the factions in rome 1 (including the selucids) use legionaries that copy the fighting style of the roman legionaries.

so i was wondering if these "copy" legionaries will make it into rome 2 (i am not aware of how historically accurate they are so that's why i am asking)

As long as they aren't immersion breaking I hope they made it in. Amazons made a return.

I hope not. In Rome 1 it was together with other things that CA didn't knew much about that time. I made a lot of progress in learning by their own and with Mods like EB. I don't think silvershield legionaries will appear again, because this is something which is said in ancient sources, but the majority of the historians sees it in the way that the romans tried to explain a similar fightingstyle than their own and not describing a copycat

I doubt it. Every faction is 'unique and diverse' apparently. So seeing two similar units are a bit unlikely.

I realy hope so they make a return in form of the Thorakitai and other what the romans thought of immitation leginonaries. It should be end tech but the ability for factions like pontus, egypt, seleucids and the greek city states like athens and co.

...the Celtic Galatians also copied the legionary fighting styles. In the mid 1st Century BC, the Galatian king Deiotaros raised two legions from his warriors, arming and organizing them like contemporary Romans. One of these legions still existed as late as the mid 2nd Century AD...
More or less; what Deiotaros recruited were 30 cohorts (like three legions); they were utterly smashed by Pharnaces of Pontus in 47 BC; Caesar regrouped the survivors in one legion for the battle of Zela; eventually the proconsul M. Lollius integrated those troops in the Roman army as the Galatian Legion (later XXII Deiotariana).

I had also created a thread about the same topic a few weeks ago. It then transformed into a debate about whether or not the Roman legions made them militarily superior than their adversaries.

My guess is that they will indeed be available in R2.
