Sorry, but i was under the impression that the economy of "provincial" campaigns (syracuse, massilia etc) was to be applied to the grand campaigns. That is to say, the building prices of the smaller campaigns was also to be used in the larger ones. This doesn't seem to be the case (?)

A most welcome continuation of the best mod out there. Congratulations to all the team! Is there a quick way to determine a correct installation? From the patch notes, it seems that Campanian cavalry should not be recruitable, but they have appeared on the list in Capua after putting down the Socii rebellion, so I am afraid I will need to wait for the full d/l and do it over.

    Please Note -

    You can't extract with WinRar.

I might be missing something, but some testing with 7zip suggests that far better - and more compatible - file compression is available.

    Test:
    1. Decompress the 2.6 patch archive, downloaded from ModDB. This is 99.8 MB in size and requires 7zip to decompress. Decompression yields a 607 MB (reported "size"; the value of "size on disk" is larger) folder that contains 1669 files.
    2. Use 7zip to re-compress the archive. Use format 7z, compression level "Ultra", compression method "LZMA2", dictionary size 64 MB, Word size 64. This takes about a minute and a half on a i750 chip. The dictionary size is important; dictionary sizes of 6, 8, and 12 MB all yielded archives that only 7zip could decompress.
    3. This yields a 42.2 MB archive.
    4. Re-name and decompress the archive. It decompresses using 7zip, TUGzip, or WINrar to a 607 MB folder containing 1669 files.

I encourage the mod developers to see if this test works on their machines.

The thing you're missing is that everyone has 'normal' Zip free these days with Windows. Why require anyone to have to have a range of other compression utilities (all of which require space and all of which use up resources), when it's simply not necessary?

It may not be the 'best', but why not produce just one single downloadable file that everyone can use?

It has indeed always irritated me when other formats are used - no one should be forced to use another's favourite and it's akin to pyramid selling!

    1. The download file, as supplied, requires 7zip to open. Requiring a specific software package is rather more troubling than using a format that multiple software packages can use. The formats supplied that allow other software to be used are even bigger, which brings us to...

    2. We're talking a major decrease in archive size here. That means substantially greater user (and indeed modder) convenience. Insisting on using the lowest common denominator of file compression software packages is insisting on candles when light bulbs are available. "pyramid selling"? You must be joking. If going with .7z format is pyramid selling, than so is offering computers that requires a power cord when you could instead get a machine with a hand crank attached!

Heh....lot of effort here, I see. Are you installing in Steam? If so, then there are numerous posts explaining that Steam broke RTW somehow, and RS2 no longer works. As for being too hard to install.....if you can read, you can follow directions.
    They are quite simple.

Do not worry - (and for me I'm wondering why you're fine and I'm not with a text file that hasn't changed in a year!) - When you're in the game and show 'Options' it's 1.5 for a properly patched RTW (and 1.6 for BI and 1.9 for Alex).

The only place to see RSII v2.6 is on the Launcher.

Yes. There was a fair bit of call for that.

Note that a number of the one turn campaigns are pretty tough even on M/M and getting an economy up and running can be challenging

Update - whilst the file in question is only updated from the original in RTW's main data folder (BI's and Alex's are older and look original) as part of v2.6 - all of the 3 RTW .exe's when run from the Launcher are failing in the same way.

Post Launcher enabling - "Script Error in data/descr_event_images.txt at Line 2984 Column 1 - Unknown event string settlement_razed"

    Hopefully an easy fix.

The error you got is always from an install in the wrong place. When you copied the files over into your RS2 folder, you should've gotten asked if you wanted to replace folders and files. Were you? If not, the patch got in the wrong place.
