    Default Faction Evolution

One thing that I wonder is how factions will change over time, as they all have extensive tech trees and stuff.
It's pretty clear how Rome will evolve militarily, but what about the others? More to the point, what about the factions that historically didn't last too long, or didn't grow to be as powerful as the player could make them?

For example, if you play as Carthage, you should obviously be able to develop past the point they were at when they fell. If you play as the barbarians, you should be able to develop and also adopt the technologies of other cultures. It would make no sense to have unarmoured early game infantry as the bulk of your army once you've amassed lots of wealth and technology after all.
As far as I know such development is confirmed, but I wonder how it will manifest itself in game?

In this thread http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...om-new-article there is a link to an article that tells that barbarian factions can indeed adopt new technologies from "civilized" factions.

I would love to know alot more about this though, and would love to see something from CA explaining how other factions than Rome will change over time. The Hellenistic factions especially.
It's never too late to panic!

Those are some very interesting and highly debatable questions. but I would say since a grand campaign only lasts around 150 years (based on Rome I reference), the cultural and technological changes wouldn't be too dramatic.
Reg: They've taken everything we had and what have they ever given us in return!?
Xerxes: The aqueduct. Reg: Oh yeah, yeah they gave us that. Yeah that's true.
    Activist 1: And the sanitation!
Stan: Oh yes...sanitation, Reg you remember what the city used to be like.
Reg: all right, that's two things that the Romans have done...
    Matthias: And the roads...
Reg: Well yes obviously the roads goes without saying. But apart from...
    Activist 2, 3, 4, 5: Irrigation...Medicine...Education...and the wine...
Francis: Yeah the wine. That's something we'd really miss if the Romans left.
