I will certainly be increasing the men in a unit to about 320, but only in the historical battles feature as they never give the full unit stack in these anyway. So it shouldn't fry my PC![]()

are we sure we can do this manually and easily?
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

I've seen those multipliers in the preference file and it takes a programmer to understand it. I don't think the average person would.
No no, its very easy.
There will be a config file (preferences.txt or something), that will contain various lines that you've configured (screen resolution, etc etc). One of those lines says something like :
campaign_unit_multiplier=1 (or something like that).
So if you change that value, from say 1 to 1.5, thats all there really is to it.
A normal 160 man unit would be 1.5 times larger, AKA 240 men. Do a multiplier=2, and you'll have 320 men, and so on.
Of course, dont go completely overboard, or the machine might not be able to handle it![]()
I only TW title I own is Rome 1 (2004), I've never adjusted the multipliers. I've been told that it can be done from the preferences file.
I also think that we have to adjust that sizes of our opponent army units a this would not be done automatically in the single player historical battles. So it's quite a big job increasing the unit sizes, would take half hour atleast!!!
thanks for the answer, i guess with some help from TWC members sizes could be increased.
Why not increase them to something like 480?? Standard Cohort size

yes. changing the multiplier affects all units for all factions. BTW have you guys already read about new graphics options level called EXTREME?it's confirmed by people who went to Gamescom
after ULTRA level settings(which is maximum in Shogun 2) there is EXTREME level settings. And game is looking incredible on EXTREME. But it probably requires high-end GPU from one of the latest GPU generations. Another person wrote that he had a pc with gtx 570 and was playing on partly ultra partly extreme settings win a little lag.
Let's just hope that the game isn't an unoptimized POS. Though I fear the worst.
All sounds good as its easy to do, BUT what if the fleets can't take any more men on them ???, say that's hard coded or something, then what ?, or say you have fleets with hundreds of extra men on them and it looks crap and silly, as there is no where for the extra men to go but hang of the side etc lol
