People bashing this must be smoking something! Game looks great! Though I'd have liked a full battle, get frustrated when they zoom and I don't then too, or don't when I think it'd be a good time!

CAVE CANEM
"CA forced me to buy RTW2. CA made my buy all DLC's. Even the free ones. CA made me push the button."
It is mentioned several times on both the first page and the second page, that the "bubble formations" are due to the player, not the game. Yet even here on page 3, people are still complaining without giving the explanations any thought whatsoever. Whiners never cease to amaze me.
It's never too late to panic!
Combat looked a lot more "blobby" in these videos indeed. Not good.
The cohesion of an army is all up to the player in this case. I see what looks like a very inexperienced player rushing soldiers into battle on contact. I play so much differently than he does that it almost pains me to watch. If you keep your rate of advance steady and normal, you should see this "cohesion" that everyone seems to think doesn't exist.
I just want to say about battle speed (as an alternative opinion):
I downloaded and installed Roma Surrectum a while back, and I was messing around in the campaign (dear lord do I really need to look through a list of 40 building options and try to understand what each one does?). I finally arrived at my first big battle and as I was fighting it, it just kept going on... and on... and on... By the time it was done I was so bored I couldn't bring myself to go on.
So battlespeed... some people see the new videos and actually think it looks quite fun. I am one of them.
Hopefully this is the case. I guess we will find out in September.
It's amazing how every single demonstration of the game has been handled by poorly skilled players so far. Do people at CA really play their own total war games? Did these game reviewers play more than one hour any previous Total War game? Because... maaan... Watching this videos makes me cry.
Seems to me that people that experience blobbing in their games probably have terrible micro, like this guy playing in the videos. Useless ranters whining about crap again.
Looks amazing to me!
And to the people complaining, there will always be something that some people dislike, that's why you have mods.
Do we know these videos are not an early version? Because if it isnt the current version that could explain it, im not a fan of fast battles but ill reserve my final judgement till the game is released and the first few patches that are likely to come.
Also nice find, thank you for the videos![]()
Awesome :O Thanks for showing!

Cohesion is all for the player to keep until the contact with the enemy. After the initial clash I dont think non-phalanx units should always remain a nice little rectangle, nor do I want my maniples to remain static while the front row is the only one getting in the fight, I want the formation to be flexible and exploit every gap in the enemy. The Romans could not have beaten the phalanx if they remained in nice little squares.
Also even well drilled troops cant be robots, some guys would have hanged back in the rush and confusion of a charge, or while breaching a gate.
