Very cool viewing, ty OP.
Personally I loved the look of the battles. Less than 2 weeks to go. Nice.
Yeah, because the player ordered them tooI really don't know what you expect? If I select infantry, cavalry and ranged units all at once, and order them all to run in and attack a single target, this is the result. As I said before, blame the player, not the game. All the tools are there to maintain unit and formation cohesion - but it's up to the player's management skill to utilize them to full effect. Any idiot can select every unit and click 'charge' on a single enemy unit. It's a mess because the player lacks any sort of micromanagement skill, not because the game won't allow for it. Where are the group formations/commands? Where is selecting individual units and targets? Where is the use of guard mode to maintain unit formations?
Do you want to just click two buttons and watch the game practically play itself? I'd rather it didn't. I'd rather it relied on player skill. Maybe if you find this difficult, you should try pausing morebut I'd rather they didn't 'dumb down' the game because people play badly and can't micro.

Perhaps he thought the enemy archer unit would shatter rather then having his own sword units form a blob, either way we get a charge and a blob with little or no structure to the fight. We have seen the same thing in the Nile battle and in some of Als battles so perhaps its time CA get a good player to show us what really happens in a RTW2 battle because blobbing apparently only happens if your a bad player.
Magic beans anyone.
Those videos looked great, and the fort is much bigger than it seemed in screenshots. It's easily able to house a full 20 unit stack, maybe even 40.
But that was just the human player being a retard.
The AI actually managed to hold formations.
Yep, both of those pictures show the AI holding formation rather well when rushed by a human player.
so few soldiers. that's not real total war. and f you want to say that in previous TW the numbers were the same, it's obvious that this should change and now there was an opportunity.
agree with those who hate the bubble formation.
thanks for the videos
The second video, city is pretty nice size.
Watching these videos now.
One of the few to still have his first avatar in place here on TWC.
I sometimes miss this place you know. This is where my journey began.
Thanks for the videos!![]()
Im already tired of that battle horn..
Love the city size, love the campaign gameplay (from the looks of it), but really dislike the battle speed. It looks way too fast to me.
This is going to be removed very soon, better watch it while you still can!
EDIT: Love how the capture point is surrounded by a hall of pillars. Very pretty.
Dat fort.
Remember guys this is the prologue, the fort might have been specifically made for that battle.
I do hope however that forts in the game will be bigger !
If you work to earn a living, why then do you work yourself to death?
I don't speak much german, what was the reference to berlusconi?
Will he be in the game, gain a lot of money and rule Italia even if no one like him?
Or maybe he'll organize "bunga bunga" parties where your generals and family members could have s...euh a lot of children,so that you always have a lot of descents. The berlusconi natality boost!
Any connections with real world is a coincidence...

Modestus, those bubbles are due to the player using the Romans in a manner they are not supposed to be used. If you watch a gameplay from me, you'd see a massive blob crashing against a perfectly stretched out defensive line.
Stop cussing the game because of something a player is doing.
Personally, I really enjoyed this. CA have outdone themselves here. Good job, dudes and dudettes. Proud of you.
Something I noticed that should hopefully get changed. It seems the missiles were doing a little bit too much damage to the Romans. Hopefully this should be toned down. But then again, these are very early Republican Romans so it's understandable. I just hope that for later-stage Romans, it's way more toned down. Other than that, I'm hyped for this!
