Combat looks a bit blobby but I don't really care now that I know the Seleucids will be playable. Have some rep!

I think that's more a product of the way the guy is playing though. There's no grouped units, no attempt at formation or using Guard mode, or simply marching units. The guy just tends to select a dozen units a random regardless of what type they are and click attack! attack! attack!. As a result they just all blob together and run in and it ends up a bit of a mess. One of the siege battles they show is a horrible example of this. He just runs everything in all at once. Maybe he just expects units to hold formation and march in lines without any micro management on his part? I don't think you can criticize the game for the way people choose to play it. Maintaining steady lines and formations is up to the player's management skills. The game shouldn't do it automatically for you.

The battle maps are freakin gorgeous to look at though. And I liked the initial land battle, where the AI began a formation skirmish with the player...at least until he just blobbed everything together and ran them in. It looks like he won out in the end, but lost a ton of troops.

This looks AMAZING, I'm almost shedding tears of joy.
The siege battle, the ambush battle, the roman castra battle, I'm blown away!
I love the fact that you can defend the camp with barricades and spike traps in order to create funnels.
Also, the past few days I've become increasingly impressed by the voice acting. This game is glorious!

It looks like the combat is just as fast, if not faster, than S2. I was really hoping we'd have time to maybe zoom in a bit and enjoy the visuals, but it looks like battles are going to be frantic clickfests once more.

Watched all of them now. Really nice but the skirmishers have a bit too much killing power in my opinion. In the first video, the hastati had already lost half their men due to ranged units before they even started fighting. What do you think ?

I'm surprised these german sites keep pumping out so much leaked content, if only English speaking sites did too... Could any german speaking forumer translate any news he heard, only thing I understood was "Silvio Berlusconi" once he spoke about political intrigue on the CM

Combat looks way too fast and arcadey, but ambush mechanics and campaign gameplay on the other hand look great.

Remember that the video says work and progress. They'll be tweaking it until release. Also, was this footage released from within the CA studio or was it played by someone at an event? The game version they use at events is always faster than the normal game to allow more people to play.

This happens in all TW games when you turn off guard mode. Less so in some than in others but it's always been there.

Graphics as always are amazing, but they need to address the battle speed.

I also could have sworn I heard a Principe unit shout "FULL SPEED" at one point. If my hearing is correct then whoever came up with that idea needs to reconsider their career options...... 0_0
Agreed that battles are too fast in these videos.

    Jesus wept.
Bubble formations have been in every TW game I've played. Especially once you turn off guard mode. Even phalanx units in RTR VII turn into a disorganized blob eventually once guard mode is off.

They said in quite a few videos already that they changed their minds on it. Now you can control units from the tactical map. No biggie. I'm pretty sure you still can't see units hidden by LOS.

Looks great. I have to agree that it looks like fights will be going pretty fast, looks like I'll have to pause a lot to zoom in and watch my soldiers fight. I hope that it's just been sped up a bit for the video.
