Default Will Pontus, Seleucids, Athenians, Epirus, macedon have the same units but with different colours? Generic units or not? early and late units?

That is the question of the real variety of units ingame. 700 units but a lot could be the same in fact.

As those factions are greek or hellenistic ones (Seleucids, athenians, pontus, macedon,Epirus), will there be the same with different colours (blue clothes for Athen, yellow for an other etc.) or will there be some specific units for each faction? For example I saw that Epirus and Pontus have some very similar units...

the same problem could exist with some units of Egypt or for some of Sparta.

I know that there will be generic units and that seems in a way logical for greek faction cultures but will there be some differences in the roosters? If there are no differences that would be almost half of the factions that will look very similar.

An other thing we saw that romans have early and late units with different uniforms but what about the others factions, will there be some differences between the beginning of the game era and the end?

I think there will be 1-2 different units... like bronce shields, silver shields, heroes of Sparta and so on...

I hope they will have differwnt shield patterns

Their elite units will be different and maybe 1-2 generic ones.

I hope Pontus will have the cappadocian cavalry and some eastern infantry type.
Athen should have some marine and hoplite falanx (thorakitai with out javelins).
Epirus should have some illyrian unit and elephants.
Seleucids: cataphracts, thorakitai argydaspides, armoured elephants, syrian archers.

Well I can't imagine EVERY single Spear Warband unit being so unique that players would have a confusing time figuring out whether those Cimbri men are the same Spear Warband as your own.

Which BTW is not a good thing in my book- if they look different they need to be more than just clone copies. If those guys look so different yet are completely identical in function to your own, I think CA waste a lot of their time.

Note that part of the uniqueness can be factored by randomized textures like different helmets or other textures. Faction colours (and perhaps things like shield emblems and the banners men are holding) should be the primary things that players look to for determining what they are compared to others. Egyptian miltiia for example can feature darker-skinned men among other things, so certain factions surely have much more capability in appearing more unique. But there aren't several other Egyptian-like unplayable factions; most of its neighbours are Greek or Eastern. Barbarian factions however are quite numerous so trying to make a lot of obviously unique appearances can be problematic- colour cannot be used since it is primarily for determining ownership, and there can be so many shield emblems to help set some apart from others.

Considering those things, I'd honestly prefer if the generic units are, well, generic in appearance to assist players in knowing which is what. I'm sure the different types of units will help set them apart from eachother to a further level.

Shogun2 however was a bit different- without looking at the unit details bubble, you wouldn't really know that unit of Naginata Samurai were armed with naginata and not spears, since the game uses the same unit model. It doesn' help hat the randomized textures gave them a much similar appearance. Or sharpshooters in FOTS comapred with, say, Tosa Riflemen.

Well there are 700 units, I believe rome 1 had 100-150 units.

of course there are a few generic units: hoplites, thureos spears and such, but there will be plenty of unique units per faction, especially the playable ones

I think the city-states will have more overlap than the Macedon and it's successors which I think wi'll be different enough when you take into account of the regional troops that'll be in their roster, not to mention faction bonus' and tech tree upgrades.

I have no idea to be honest, but im hoping for a big difference like everyone else.

However, i don't think they would categorize the generic hoplites as 15 different units with different colours, simply because of the rage it would generate.

Personally i have faith in CA on this point, sure there's gonna be plenty of generic units, but i doubt each of those units will take up more than 1 spot each in the 700 unit roster, unless there is some sort of visible difference in both their stats and appearence.
It's never too late to panic!
