~ Unofficial Suebi Campaign Strategy Thread ~

    Suebi profile:
    -1 region
    -Capital: Lupfurdum
    -No full provinces
    -Resources: None
    -Wonders: None
    -At war with: Boii
    -Allies: none
-Mercenaries available: Longbow Hunters, Germanic Scout Riders, Spear Brothers

    - The Suebi Start at war with the Boii, which are directly below the Suebi, in the province of Hercynia.

    - The Boii Capital is CASURGIS, on the left side in Hercynia.

    - Istros is the right province of Hercynia and has the resource of Gold!

    - After Eliminating Boii and attaining complete control of the Hercynia province, I would move upward and unite the Suebi Province.

    - First declaring war with the Gutones (purple), which would likely make me friends with Lugii (Black), who are also at war with them.

The Gutones are at war with the Lugii. So attacking them will make the Lugii like you and could possibly function as an ally against the Boii.
Then defeat the Rugii abd the Cimbri consolidating the Suebi province and providing several seaports and trading opportunities.
A war with the Rugii could create an alliance with the Cherusci. Then it's time to go after the Boii.
The rest depends on campaign development.

I made a partner thread to this one for the same kind of thing but for the Roman factions if anyone wants to give those strategies:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...paign-strategy

My strategy as the mighty Suebi:
Open with an all-out attack to eliminate the Boii to the South and take their resources. This ought to occupy the first few turns, but it will greatly increase the wealth of the Suebi, since Hercynia contains gold mines.

I'd then turn North to attempt to take all of Suebia, consolidating my position as dominant Germanic tribe, and to make sure I won't be stabbed in the back. Perhaps I could ally with the strong Cherusci to protect me from Gauls while I do this and to fight the Rugii together. An alliance with the Lugii would protect my other flank and help me fight the Gutones. The wars with the Cimbri, Rugii and Gutones ought to make my populace happier since barb factions like wars, which will help to assimilate the new land.

Now I have a sea port, a seaborne attack on Britannia would be in order with the majority of my forces while the rest go for Sarmatia. My borders to the South and West are protected for now by the Cherusci and Lugii. If I can, I will try to make a confederation with them. By now with Britannia, Sarmatia and a firm base around Suebia all under my control, I would be the dominant force in the North of the map.

Time to betray my allies if they will not join my confederation! I attack the factions bordering me, and sweep south with fury riding on the heels of my horses! As I sweep down from the black forests bringing carnage, I will then have to decide my next moves based on who is dominant in the Mediterranean, and take it from there.

The irony is that in the original Rome I would have just swept out in all directions, since the number of my armies wouldn't have been so painfully limited, nor would my treasury. Those were the days

Truthfully, because the Boii have two provinces and a gold resource, I think I would first expand north to the Rugii or Gotones before I took the Boii on. The heavier Celtic military will be a difficult fight to handle with half the regions as them.

True, but you're already at war with them. How will you fight them off and at the same time start another war on another front?

Well as I'm a real "swabian" living in Baden-Württemberg I'm of course quite interested in playing the mighty Suebi . Well Hans you heard about the improved ambush that the Suebi got as faction bonus? Thats how you can keep off the boii.
My strat will probably be get a small Army in the small path to the border of suebi and boii and set them in ambush mode. With the other army i probably try to force my weaker direct neighbour to either join me or get crushed by my first army, that probably in early stage contains a lot of skirmishers and light units. So as i expanded and keep the Boii succesfully out I try to make allies with the direct neighbour of the boii the lugii and due to my successful annection of the gutones whom they were at war they maybe don't decline my suggestion of alliance. So the Boii will probably get overwhelmed and smashed out of germania into the illyrian borders

And finally i ask the Lugii to make a conefederation of tribes, if they accept germania and the rest of the world will fear the power of the hordes in the north..

Crushing Boii, gettin' a foothold around the baltic by getting all of the Suebia province seems like a good basic plan. After that I personally planned on going to Sarmatia, in order to get access to horse archer and powerful cavalry, which will prove useful in further plans of conquest, including an invasion of Britannia.
