Icon5 Proposal for TA:TW vanilla and all sub mods

Hello all, I have an idea that could prove to add a lot of immersion for this modification. However I am unsure of the steps required; would anyone be able to explain to me the steps I would need to take to enable princesses for all the Good factions (whilst disabling assassins), and keep assassins for Evil factions?

After playing Deus Lo Vult for a couple of hundred turns I miss the aspect that princesses bring into the game, for example being able to mix bloodlines and lure generals into your control etc. Throughout the collective works of Middle Earth we see many marriages between different races and factions, so I figure that to add to the Lore this element should be present in the game? It could also be used as an RPG mechanic if the right script could be created, for example - new mission as High Elves: 'Arrange your princess to marry Aragorn of Eriador'.. bonuses - you get Aragon (powerful general, ancillaries etc), Lore accuracy... future bloodline for children, and potentially a new line of traits for the various factions.

For example child of Arwen -> Aragorn = Half Elf / Dunedain trait, could provide some interesting bonuses.

On the other hand Galadriel (if you used her as a princess?) -> Gimili = Not to mention the horrendous thought of the mechanics involved here, but there may be some benefit in a Elf-Dwarf

I am a pretty dab hand at working my way around the M2TW mod folders, and scripting, however I have not been familiar with M2:TW for a while, and I'm unsure of what TA:TW has implemented to remove the features from the game? If someone could tell me how, I would be willing to release a basic version of the mod to start with else, if someone thinks they could put more time and effort in.. then that works for me seeing as I'd be able to play it ^^. I can imagine the work involved would need to be implementing the models into the game again if they have been removed, ensuring that all of the 'good factions' have the ability to use them and that they have the right colours etc, and then potentially look into new traits once the basic mechanics work.

In regards to the assassin aspect, I feel that if the good factions have the advantage of using princesses, i.e. for diplomacy and 'luring' powerful generals, then the evil factions should have the sole advantage of using assassins.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

Kiliç Alì did a princess submod for TATW some time back. Not sure what TATW version it was for. Searching for that would be a good place to start.

I like your idea. I too miss being able to manipulate the family tree with princesses. One thing to consider, as weird as it might sound, could be an inbreeding bonus/penalty. I remember in Stainless Steel playing a campaign with a "pure" Holy Roman Empire family tree. It added an interesting role playing element, but at the same time there were eventual inbreeding penalties. For some factions blood mixing could yield bonuses (men), whereas other factions might see bonuses for keeping their bloodlines pure (elves/dwarves). It would be cool to see how you could experiment though. Different pairings yielding different results. I'd be interested to see this pursued.
