Default improvements brought from medieval? unit tacking

Ok the title sounds strange but I had a thought. With the improved map graphics in RS2, it looks to me like the medieval map graphics were just brought over from that game. There have been a few questions about unit formations and unit pathing lately asking what will be fixed in rs2.6. I love medieval 2 total war and the unit pathing is much better than rtw though still not perfect. I'm wondering if it could be brought over from medieval so the units pathing is much better and siege battles would be better. I'm sure it would be different than just bringing the map over but I wanted to at least bring it up. I hope I'm being clear enough on what I'm talking about units in medieval get stuck on walls and gates a lot less than in rtw and would be cool if that could be brought over to RS

Sadly, pathfinding is something that is deeply hardcoded in engine, that is, in the exe, so it's not possible to port it.

Actually, pathfinding is in a sense 'hardcoded'...but not in the exe. Many building and city 'models' have what's called 'collision' built into them. It is a file, or a routine that is part of the model itself, that tells the game what units cannot go on or go through. The models for the cities in RTW also have this 'collision' factor built into them, so that when a unit gets to, say, the side of the road, it cannot go off the road. Likewise, units cannot go thru trees, buildings, rocks, walls, etc. They are supposed to go around them.

The problem with this is that you would have to own (very expensive) and know how to use 3DSMax in order to actually 'see' these collision points, and then know how to fix them. In another life, maybe I'll know how. It's too bad this couldn't more easily be fixed in RTW, or that some modder didn't ever find it the burden of his heart to fix this. But I do think it's more a nuisance than a game breaker anyway.

M2TW has the reverse problem of having better buildings and stuff.....but extreme difficulty changing them to a Roman era time frame.
Otherwise, I think a lot of people would've been more interested in revamping M2TW.
