"technologically inferior factions can gain access to new units and tech by conquering settlements belonging to advanced powers. A barbarian tribe can start churning out triremes instead of their slow, oak beamed vessels if they manage to make their way down to the Mediterranean coast, for instance."
Well they can get Triremes so I would assume they will be able to get quite a few other big upgrades!

Lol. My guess: shades of olive oil with a strong scent of garlic and cheap wine, together with a touch of a legionary not washed himself for three days.
Thanks for the OP, an interesting read.

i hope this doesn't mean that they are going for the barely above caveman idea of the celts rather than the reality that they had an advanced and unique civilization that EB portrayed beautifully. would be nice to steal those handy seige weapons though which i mean the romans stole from the greeks anyway

the gauls had great ships why need to steal Mediterranean ones? This article has me worried that they have put less effort into the barbarian factions and this is just a way to help the poorly represented bastards compete
I'm just wondering. If you gain that tech or ability when you capture a city or region, will you have it available throughout your empire, or will it only be of use in that city/region?
