    Default In search of music.

Demosthenes made his way through some of the poorer districts of the city, stopping every so often wherever he found a group of children. They were all similar, ragged, rough and dirty. To all of them though he made the same offer, bread, olives and a drachma. In exchange they would look send the word out around the entire city that musicians were needed at the game site and they should report to Alexander there. In the end there were five such groups of children.

One group, under a boy named Peucestes went West.
One group under a girl named Lydia went East.
Another under the boy Lykon went South.
The fourth under Dimos went North.
The final group under the girl Penelope wandered the Centre of the city.

All those groups made the same call. "Singers, lutists, drummers and pipers. Demosthenes Keltos calls for you to aid your city! Go you to the fields outside the city where you shall find Alexander. For our great games to Athena you will be needed to represent Athens."

OOC: Rolls to see which groups are successful?

    Peucestes: 16/20
    Lydia: 13/20
    Lykon: 6/20
    Dimos: 19/20
    Penelope: 20/20

The children proved largely successful. Being the prominent cultural center that it is, the streets and public places of Athens are filled with artists of every kind, including musicians. In the east, Peucestes finds a group of struggling aulos players, who jump at the chance to earn some extra cash.

Lydia manages to locate a skilled player of the hydraulis, however, due to the complexity of the instrument, he does request to be paid the standard fee for his services in order to pay for maintenance.

Lykon has much less luck than the rest of the children. After spending the entire day roaming the streets, he knocks on the door of one of Greece's most famed pan pipe players, who, taken aback by the scruffiness of the child, charges a pretty penny for his performance.

Dimos and Penelope were both very successful, both finding musicians who agree to play for free. Dimos finds a high strung chorus of elderly women who agree to sing for the exposure, while Penelope tracks down a patriotic conch blower who seems happy just to play in a citywide event.

    -500 for the Aulos players
    -1,000 for the Hydraulisist
    -2,000 for the Pan Pipist
    -Singers are free
    -Conch Blower is free

Once word reaches Demosthenes he pays each group of children 10 drachma and week's worth of food. He meets with the musicians and agrees to pay their fees for the greater glory of Athens.

OOC: I'll make the necessary deductions form my income. I'll say one week of food is about 3 drachma. Sound about right to you?

OOC: Sure. I'll assign your points when the games end.
