Helping a poor old mac user
So I've had my copy of Medieval 2 successfully bottled onto my Mac for about a year now. I never dared go near any mods because I didn't think it'd have a chance at working to be honest. Recently though I said to hell with it and tried to get the mod working. So I download both the original mod and its enhanced edition. I downloaded both and with each when I ran the game and went to Campaign there is a map of Europe along with the GoT themed family banners. After I selected who I wanted to play as and hit play the game crashed.

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Keep in mind I am using a wrapper/wine and everything works fine. Also I noticed that is a Kingdoms: Hosted mod but the Kingdoms launcher doesn't work, I am stuck with the regular launcher. What I did was put the documents that were in the Westeros folder and placed/replaced the americas folder. Upon launch it seemed like it would work but like I said in my previous post it was basically jumbled with the base Medieval 2 game.

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Did you place the files from these mods in the appropriate mod designated file for Medieval 2 Total War?

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Not 100% sure what you mean but I everything is in the mod folder, I replaced the americas files with the westeros files so when I select americas at the launcher it does boot up the jumbled Westeros mod.

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
You don't have to replace the Americas with the downloaded mod files you just place the mod files that you downloaded and place them in the mod file along with everything else. Oh and I don't believe you can make the launcher actually work for the sub mods

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Here's how I learned go on youtube and find SoulGameInc and watch his instructional videos on how to install the mods you want lol it's actually very easy once you get the hang of it. Here's the link for how to download and install the enhanced alpha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzD26...Jzxfni&index=2

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Well if I need windows batch files to play this then I am screwed unless there is some way to convert. I don't get it though, I mean had the mod up. :-(

No idea, maybe someone else might know? I seriously doubt though there are that many Mac users here, and if there are they probably use Bootcamp.

I would ask one of the experienced modder's around here like BagerDude or perhaps EmperorOfHell since they would know a lot more about this than me

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
you do not need the batch file, at least not the windows type.
all that file does is to start the game using a specific config file, that is the important file as it tells what mod to run and such.
the vanilla game use same type of config, so if you can run vanilla it should not be a problem.
i have not used mac since Apple started using same hardware as ordinary PC`s, so i am not sure of how the OS works now.
but i would think that any automated script that can start the game can be used.
you might be able to run the mod by replacing the vanilla config with the mods one.

The only vanilla config I see is the one with preferences in it. I replaced it with the Westeros.cfg and it just loaded up the regular game like nothing had changed.

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
it seems that Wine is able to run .bat files, at least it looks that way from your screenshot.
try running the westeros.bat rather than launcher.exe

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
Ok, after some tinkering it worked. One last question though. Does the faction selection screen always have the map of europe?

Re: Helping a poor old mac user
medieval2.preference.cfg that is the file.
the vanilla .cfg is auto re-generated after each run, so file has to be replaced each time you launch the mod. obviously you need to re-name the westeros.cfg apropriately.
the best option is if you can launch the mod by a script that invokes both kingdoms.exe and the westeros.cfg.
this is the content of batch file for my mod:
kingdoms.exe @tgc.cfg
it just says run kingdoms.exe and use this config file.
how come you can run an exe file and not a batch, are you not emulating windows?
EDIT:
i noticed that the westeros batch and .cfg is in the westeros modfolder. if .cfg is moved then it will not point to correct path and possibly just load vanilla.
i guess westeros.cfg contain an entry like this:
mod =Westeros
when .cfg is located in main folder it should be:
mod = mods/Westeros
