Default Rome 2 and the Radeon HD9000 series

So, with the release of Rome 2 less than 2 weeks away, i was wondering if none of the hyped new pc purchasers were considering to wait for the upcoming release of the Ati Radeon HD 9000 series, which apparently are going to set the market on fire with an outstanding quality-price ratio.

The thing is, as close as its release is, it will be a month AFTER Rome 2 (minimun), so i was wondering if any of the hardware buffs running around here could share some input on these.

Yes i want to play Rome 2, but it's no like it's going to be the new crysis (in fact, it does not seem far from Shogun 2 at all in terms of requirements and graphic tech) so maybe it is worth to wait a bit playing on medium in order to get a cheaper, better and future-proof (Bf4? Arma3? The Division?) graphic card.

Right now i was considering a the GTX 760 and the GTX 670 (since i found it cheaper the 760).

What do you think? Get a new card now or hold till the Radeon HD9000 series?

Glad to contribute to the Rome 2 section hardware-related threads spam, btw =)

Is it true the ATi's don't work as well with TW games?

    Waiting depends on several things;

    How much money you have?
How good you think the game will be at 1st release?
How much you want to play on lovely max settings on release day?

Me I bought an Asus OC'D GTX670, and hoping the game is decent at launch(ie no problems).

Well i'm willing to pay up to 250-300 €, can be flexible if there is just a much much much better deal at something more.

I'd like to play at max at release but i don't buy the card jsut for rome, an since apparently the next batch of graphics cards which come out in a month or two are going to be a big leap then i don't want to make a rushed decission just for rome just to find that ina month there is a card that performs 30% better at 75% of the price of a gtx 670 or 760.

Currently i have my 5 year old hd 4870 toxic (oc) which can't max anything but still holds its ground pretty valiantly (played Shogun 2 with decent enough graphics at huge unit size, for instance, can play Battlefield 3 at medium-high with a decent framerate for a reference). Oh, and still not a single artifact nor burnt up card (suck that Club3d Nvidias!)

I have a 7970 Ghz edition and it runs all my games perfectly. BF3? Maxed out at 110 fps, Shogun 2? Everything is maxed aside from AA and shadows and I have Darthmod installed and I'm averaging at 10k soldiers per battle.

It's ultimately up to you, it's just how bad you want it lol. Don't forget with new tech there's always problems with it at first.

As much as I would like to get one of the newer gpus I'll be waiting a while.

btw BF4 isn't going to be much more than BF3.

do what I am doing and try and hold off playing 2 much until you can upgrade...

tempted myself by the new cards. i think the dates are in here..

p.s if it runs ok on my 580 wont be the end of the world. (but yeah i can see why u want to upgrade from your current gpu).

thing is what's your current cpu? most likely newer cards will be a big jump for u in terms of perf and might be hampered/bottlenecked by your current cpu. (i'm ok for for another yr or so).
