Is this guy a member of the team? He's apparently wanting to charge 200 US dollars for it which I'm pretty confidant is ilegal regardless of whether he is on the dev team and regardless of what country he's in...

Also, I've done some trawling through some Chinese websites that apparently host the mod and from what I can tell the latest versions are 2.1 and 3.0 and they've both been released... whats the deal with that?

This is guy is not a member of the team.
In fact, there are two versions of this mod: 1.8 using the old map. This mod has been translated into english. At least ~80%. You can download it.
And new version(constatntly updating), which has bigger map and more factions. Still in development.

However I can't seem to get it to work, I get to the faction selection screen and I choose a faction, it loads and then the game crashes, any idea what the problem is?

Thannks I've got that version and I've played it, its good, but I've noticed that the English translation is REALLY bugged you've got has allot of "???" in it, particularly the names of characters and such...

This is improved and extended English translation made by me. It's now fairly comfortable. You can easily understand nearly everything with some exceptions. There are still question marks here and there as I do not have enough free time to actually re-write all texts. But this version is completely enough for casual players. If anybody really want to see "better" or completed version, just send me PM. I will send you number of my bank account and you can pay me to use my time to get the job done. Otherwise let's say it's a finished version, as I need time to work for living. Anyone can easily use or adopt some of the files for 1855AD_TheStormRiders_2015 (Sigh of Empire 2) 1.9 version available on net. Feel free to do it.


What are main differences between old translation and this one?
1. All names and family names should be in English.
2. Map names (cities) are all in English.
3. All (nearly) buildings have English names.
4. Some biographies added.
5. Many vnvs translated (still many left intact).
6. Units names corrected.
7. Events and historic events checked (not all are in English still).
8. All menus, strat or shared names are English (some adapted to mod like Heavenly King instead of Pope).
9. Campaign descriptions and expanded files verified and edited.
10. Added mission files in English.


How to use it?
Replace all your files in text folder with these ones. The easiest way is to remove all files first then copy those from zip file. Text folder is in HDD->Medieval 2 Total War -> Mods -> Sigh of Empire mod folder -> Data -> Text (here!!)
