Default Vote your faction dlc/culture pack preferences

Let's face it: Rome II will have faction DLCs, and no amount of protest will change that. However what we can do is express our preferences for factions to be made playable, in the hope that CA might look at them when they plan a new culture pack.

Note that make playable means: unlock, add unique units to roster, add unique buildings, add unique traits, add unique objectives, (possibly) add unique agents, enable internal politics. Not simply unlock, which can probably be done via mods.

So here's the list of all non-playable factions, plus an option for those who still wish to protest "I don't want any faction DLC". You may vote any number of them (yes, you can also vote all of them), and you are kindly invited to make a post explaining why you chose certain factions and proposing packs of factions, explaining why you put those factions together (culture, similar challenges, geographical area, etc.).

If I forgot I faction please tell me, I'll try and ask a moderator if she/he can add it.

Note: Turdetzani is actually Turdetani, sorry for the typo guys and Petra is actually Nabatea.
Edit: Typos have been corrected, thank you Omnipotent-Q

I'd probably like some sort of expansion to let you play as the Seleucids, they were a faction that seemed very likely to me during the faction reveals.

Bactria, because I know very little about them and wish to know more.

Samnites are only in the prologue, not in the campaign, which is why they are not an option, sorry.

They might have a faction pack which is a set of emergent factions that might appear during play, so a pack which allows Samnites, Etruscians and other factions to emerge during play.

Here's what I would like to see:

    The "isolated" faction pack:
    -Massilia, greeks in Gaul
    -Galatia, celts in Anatolia
They both have to face the challenge of being in an area with a different culture, they could get low tier local units and their own culture roster

    Hellenistic faction pack:
    -Seleucid Empire
    -Baktria
    -Pergamon

    Iberian Tribes faction pack:
    -Lusitani
    -Gallaeci
    -Turdetani

    Continental Celts+Gauls:
    -Boii
    -Helvetii
    -Treverii
    -Aedui

    Dacia, Thrace and Illyria:
    -Getae
    -Ordyssia
    -Delmetae

    Germans and Britons pack:
    -Caledones
    -Brigantes
    -Cimbri
    -Cherusci

Because I confused it with the name of the province and called it Petra.
Edit: it has now been corrected to Nabatea.

@SamueleD: Good thread idea. While there have been threads on which faction(s) would people want to see as playable, this one is easily the most functional one, and serves a practical purpose.

You can take a look at my sig for some clues on the factions I'd like to see become playable, and I also have posted on the topic in an earlier thread:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post12940887

Of course, I posted that before the unplayable factions were revealed. But nevertheless, the list in that post is mostly compatible with the factions in-game; and more importantly, my opinions haven't changed much after I made that list.

Shameless advertising of my sig and my earlier posts aside ; here's some additional thoughts for this thread:

While I have nothing against the idea of making all of the factions playable, my somewhat more realistic wish is to see around another 12 to 18 made playable. At the very least, I'd want to see the Seleucids, Getae, and one Iberian faction, preferably the Arevaci (Celtiberians) become playable: the first one is just too influential to exclude, whereas the latter two are probably the most logical representatives of unique culture groups that are currently unplayable (Dacian/Thracian and Iberian). Moreover, I think that the Scordisci would be a good choice if CA wants to keep the playable faction count as low as possible, because they'd effectively cover both eastern Celtic and Illyrian culture (and they might have some Thracian units in their roster as well).

Ideally however, there should be at least one faction for each culture group, and preferably more than one for the major cultures (such as the Celts, currently we have 2 of them but I think there should be a few more). That said, I didn't vote on the poll by that principle alone, and instead leaned more on which factions I'd personally like to play as (although there is overlap between the two). So I picked multiple Iberian factions (which represent different sub-cultures located there), multiple Celtic factions (mostly because of their notably different starting positions), two Illyrian factions as well as the Celto-Illyrian Scordisci, all of the Thracian factions (which should have at least subtle differences between them), a few steppe factions, a few Caucasian factions, a few of the most important Hellenic factions, Media Atropatene because it's our best bet for a traditional Persian faction, Armenia because it's one of my old favourites in RTW, and a Numidian faction.

Just to be clear: although I'd of course like to see the very same ones I voted in the poll, the exact factions aren't mostly that big of a deal to me. For example, I'd prefer having Helvetii as the playable Alpine Celtic faction, but if I got Nori instead, I wouldn't exactly start complaining about it. Of course, this excludes the few factions I named above - Seleucids are Seleucids, and they can only be represented by the Seleucids themselves. Even if I got every single Hellenic faction other than them as playable, it wouldn't be the same thing for me, because I want to see the Seleucids become playable.

Here's a revised DLC pack list, if I had to bundle the factions I voted:

Iberian cultures pack: Arevaci, Turdetani, Gallaeci, Edetani
Illyrian cultures pack: Scordisci, Ardiaei, Delmatae
Thracian cultures pack: Getae, Triballi, Tylis, Odrysia
Western Celtic cultures pack: Atrebates, Caledones, Ebdani
Eastern Celtic cultures pack: Helvetii, Boii, Galatia
Eastern Hellenic cultures pack: Seleucid Empire, Pergamon, Baktria
Iranian cultures pack: Media Atropatene, Scythia, Roxolani
Caucasian cultures pack: Armenia, Cimmeria, Kartli
Mixed cultures pack: Etruscan League, Massilia, Masaesyli (Numidian faction)

Yes, I know there's more there than the 18 I said earlier, but this list represents the maximum amount of factions I'd include. I wouldn't mind if some of them wouldn't make it and the remaining ones would be arranged into packs differently, such as only the Getae and Triballi making the cut of the Thracian factions.

And yes, I'd buy all of the packs I listed, although I'd probably wait for a Steam sale since the factions in the core game can easily keep me entertained until that.

Nothing wrong with a typo, considering how CA's map already has a lot of errors in the names. For example:

Artrebartes should be just Atrebates; no idea where those 2 extra r's came from. I mean, one would be understandable, but two?
    Bityhnia should be Bithynia
Never heard of Delmetae before, I think the correct spelling can be either Delmatae or Dalmatae
Odryssia... sounds a bit like Russia... The correct spelling is Odrysia, and I believe the y should be stressed in pronunciation instead of the s (which the double ss might misleadingly point to)

And let's not even begin with the region and province names...

@Rhomphaiaphoros I remember your thread, I also posted in it, I think. I made a new one simply because I thought the poll could help make the preferences clearer for CA.

As for the typos, I tried to use the same names of CA's map, even though I was quite sure that some of them are wrong, as you pointed you, and I've added the missing Cassetani tribe, which is supposed to be in Tarraco.

Petra is indeed the capital city of nabataeans nomads, as oxymoronic as that. I should have looked better.

No no, you were right: the faction is called Nabatea, but I mistook the province capital name (Petra) for the faction name. Anyway, now it's fixed.

I will make sure these 'seleucids' fall before my blade just because the fanboys keep crying about it.
