Wrong disc inserted, please insert the original "Kingdoms" CD/DVD, em what?

New computer new install etc etc thought it was all working fine until I tried to run SS 6.4 I keep getting wrong disc inserted which would be hilarious if only it wasn't so tragic, I'm using Medieval 2 Gold Edition on a disk which worked fine on my older computer for months but with my new one it wont run any of the expansions that came with Kingdoms or any mods that require the Kingdoms (both games install off 2 cd's but disc one would start up Kingdoms on my older machine) disc for the initial start up.

Its being run via a blu ray drive but that shouldn't make much of a difference as it will run the original medieval 2 no problems, the only other changes compared to my old setup is its on a separate drive to the operating system F:/ and I'm now using windows 7 instead of windows Vista.

Any other details I left please don't hesitate to ask and I'll fill them in. Thanks for your time

We have encountered problems previously where MTW2 and SS are not installed on main operating drive, mine is installed on my C drive, which is main drive

I suppose I could move it into my C:/ drive its not actually that big, can I just drag/drop? Or would a re-install be a better idea?

I would re-install, I know it is a pain, but best option, disable your UAC and Run As Admin

Ok re-installed everything on the C:/ drive..... still having the same issue, could it be because I didn't run the installers as an admin? The UAC issues with windows 7 was mentioned as a cause of some problems in the installer. Should i turn it off and try again?

I'm even after sending an email with a launch analysis to securom to see if they can see what the problem is as this is the original disc and not a copy

When installing UAC should be disabled and Run as Admin always. I take it that you installed 6.3 first?

Yes I did install 6.3 first, the only thing is the auto play option for disk doesn't seem to offer a 'run as admin' option but tbh I don't think that's the problem. Sent the securom crowd a launch analysis and they said the patch I'm using isn't compatible with the disk so it may just be an issue of downloading a different patch in installing that, I'll let ya know how i get on.

Problem solved was using the wrong patch >.< the guys at securom told me the patch (I sent them a launch analysis) I was using wasn't compatible with the game disc, so I dug through my backups and found the other patch I used with my older machine and the games working fine

I have Installed 6.3 and 6.4 for the first time and am getting the same error i am also using the gold edition can you talk me through the corrections you made to play this mod?

yeah make sure you align, gold non-gold and region for your patches

Just saw this now sorry, eh I think you just have to find a patch that is compatible with medieval 2 gold edition. I'll have a look there and see if I can find a link.

You want the patches that are compatible with Medieval 2 Total War Gold edition, read the must read section at the top it will give you all the details. Hope this helps.
