Default Campaign map inaccurate (Arabian Peninsula) ?

I don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but the Arabian peninsula looks somewhat smaller/different on the campaign map than in real life:

I hope this mistake is only present on the mini map because of artistic reasons, and that the actual map will be accurate.

im sure they only make it smaller, so that they could fit it on to the campaign map

I'd rather have a modified Arabia, than no Arabia at all.

It's fine. They have squeezed the east a bit, that's true. But that's probably just to make it fit the size of the game's map.

Ever thought that it was smaller in the Roman Ages than in the modern days?

This is true. Many people don't know that the earth actually breaths just like all living creatures. Volcanoes are actually giant nostrils. I saw it on ancient aliens on the history channel. Arabia gets smaller and larger as the earth expands and contracts its breath.

    Exacly!!
No seriously tho, the Arabian Penisular's borders could have been smaller in the Roman age?

They could have been smaller/larger because of sea level, but not squeezed like on the campaign map.

This is a gameplay decision, squeezing Arabia and modern-day Iran to keep provinces a sensible size, and prevent you having to walk your armies for dozens of turns to reach their objective

    Arabia has no use anyway.

Artistic representation of a "Roman period-esque" map. The geography was probably intentionally skewed a little for that reason. Oh yeah and perhaps some gameplay purposes as well.

According to that map, there should be a water route from the Nile to the gulf of Suez. Too bad I won't be able to get my Mediterranean fleet to the Arabian Sea.

The ultra realistic mods should use a map like that

Seriously? We're complaining about this too? -_-

The entire map is not 1:1 scale of real life, it all looks like a crude simplified version of Europe, everything is fat and blob like. Look at the edge of france, its much smaller in Rome 2.... its a video game jeez.....

The coastal sections are more interesting, plus it keeps the sand out of my men's sandals. Saharan Africa really comes to mean something in a Victorian era game, apart from trade locations along key boarders.

Its also 2D, in real life its 3D, trust me.
