Default Suggestive humour as I like it making a comeback in Rome 2- ESRB rating released

Setrus on the official forums alerted me of this. So if you are looking to know if your kids can play this game without turning into perverted psychos or just looking for a good laugh take a look at this :

    Total War: Rome 2

    Platform: Windows PC

Content Descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Language, Suggestive Themes, Violence

Rating Summary: This is a real-time strategy game in which players command one of nine factions to conquer the ancient world. Players can manage their faction's economic and political infrastructure and expand territories through military conquests. From distant or zoomed-in views, players arrange military units (e.g., infantry, cavalry) and naval fleets around battlefields; conflicts are highlighted by battle cries, sword-clanging sounds, and explosions.Cutscenes depict more intense instances of violence: characters impaled by swords/spears; a prisoner executed from a distant perspective. The dialogue sometimes contains references to suggestive material (e.g., “They…fornicate with sheep when they get the chance,” “Nice dress. It'll look better on my bedroom floor,” and “Is that a bread roll in your toga or are you just pleased to see me?”). Alcohol is also referenced in the text/dialogue (e.g., “I wish I had some wine with us” and “Over there are Gauls, mead-drunk, blood-drunk”). The word “” can be heard in dialogue.

    hmm, this is very interesting.

Especially the reference to the Gauls. We know that battle speeches have been cut from the game but it seems that insults and references to the enemy side have taken their place

not bad CA, not bad at all

    Do we?

Now that is a damn shame!

Random witticisms are not really an effective replacement for a decent pre battle inspiring speech!

Most pre-battle speeches consisted of the general insulting the enemy in various ways, which inspired the men:

Replacing them with soldier dialogue is a pretty good substitute.

Shall we agree to differ on that issue?

Maybe instead of having general's speeches, CA decided that the general would be able to say insulting/inspiring things throughout the course of the battle. After all, it's not just the soldiers that can talk in battle.

i agree. CA's reasoning was that the speeches would get repetitive so they just cut them from the game all together, they will still be present in historical battles.

Love humour in otherwise 'serious' games. Cheers the whole thing up.

No, in the US you can have anything you want in games sex drugs violence. Heck we even have an Ao rating that will allow absolutely anything. Retailers just refuse to stock those games for PR reasons.

I can't understand how people in the 21st century in first world countries deal with such censorship.

Mmmmm, I don't know how I'd feel hearing my soldiers saying that to each others on the battlefield though.... unprofessional to say the least....

I think it might otherwise be part of specific campaign map event dialogues like meeting your future wife for example.

I like how the description of the rating is all, like, "oooh suggestive humour thing of the children" but doesn't contain the words "and you kill, like, a million people".

I also think it's funny that one of the words in the games dialogue is considered to 'rude' for this forums word filter.

Those examples are amazing, I hope they aren't the just the best. I'm going to level up all my armies' insults until every soldier is a sarcastic, arrogant s. It'll be fun to watch them all huddle up and then one man walk out, shout something and then watch all the other men fall over laughing while the enemy get angry and huddle up themselves.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I am me. You are not me. You are you. If I was you, I wouldn't be me.
If you were me, I'd be sad.But I wouldn't then be me because you'd be me so you wouldn't be me because I wasn't me because you were me but you couldn't be because I'd be a different me. I'd rather be any kind of bird (apart from a goose) than be you because to be you I'd have to not be me which I couldn't do unless someone else was me but then they would be you aswell so there would still be no me. They would be you because I was you so to restore balance you would have to be me and them meaning all three of us would become one continously the same. That would be very bad.

So you'll have an army like the TW Center's forums? Is that... wise?

I loved all the little in-jokes in Rome: Total War, such as the references to the Judean People's Front etc. Humour is great but I hope we won't end up with overly silly things such as agents or soldiers with comic voices spouting ridiculous quotes ala Empire Earth III or Empires: Dawn of the Modern World. Hearing the soldiers fart in the original Rome was funny at times, but hearing the same dumb quotes over and over again can wear thin after a while, so hopefully they won't over do it. With that in mind those quote selections, especially the one about the Gauls sound pretty cool.

AFAIK the only game that's ever actually been legally banned in the US was one that had an underage girl showing her boobs at spring break.
