Default Will armies with artillery inflict more siege attrition than those without?

    So, that's my question.

If you siege a city with an army that has artillery; will this army cause more passive damage/casualties to the city than if you sieged them with an army without artillery to simulate the damage/devastation wrought by passive shelling?

Also, will we have the ability to use agents to poison/pollute water supply/sabotage food storages or cause dissent in cities that you are siege'ing to reduce how long they can withstand the siege, or even create a chance for surrender?

I'd really like being able to use agents to influence how long a city would survive a siege.

Well artillery won't be a unit now, will they?
Didn't they say they will be like rams or ladders in the original?

So, essentially; artillery will not be available to attacking armies in the field unless they're attacking a siegeable position?

I don't know for sure, but I thought they said that artillery would be an addition to the army despite not being units themselves, so that at some point in the game; you'd still have to choose to give your army artillery if you wanted them to have it.

    Short answer? 99% of no.

No, there is probably no programming way, that a sieging army with artillery equipped units will increase attrition.

For the second question, well, yes, that might be possible to program, but afaik, won't happen in R2, it wasn't a content in any former TW title. There was just the option, that agents sabotage gates and infrastructure buildings, so there is the depiction of commiting looting by invasions, but not attrition for the population, when i understood you right. Plunder and looting in the moment you take the settlement will decrease the population though, if it is as it was in former titles.

Well artillery won't be a unit now, will they?
Artillery units are there, for field and siege battles, at least i didn't notice, that this principle is changed in R2 vs. R1.
Artillery features are expanded to a better depiction, ie. with manned defence-artillery instead of empty machine-gun towers.

    no. obviously not.
but it would be nice to see this feature on settlements without walls only. because people don't understand how LITTLE artillery was used in ancient warfare. the thing was that they just weren't that powerful. even the biggest catapults couldn't actually know down a large stone wall, unless they were there for months. Sure, it makes sense that CA give us overpowered artillery, but it wasn't until the middle-ages that artillery was used to destroy things. In ancient times it was used against troops, or to fling things OVER walls, not to knock them down.
