    Default Add factions

I was wondering about adding factions. I currently have the Romans. I assume to add a new faction I have to go to the launcher and type in the appropriate code. If I do so, will the Roman faction remain playable and the saved games loadable, or do I have to reload it every time?

Depending on the actual choice(s) - will depend in which sub-folder the saves are made.

You can play all factions (those available) all the time. I would recommend always using a different naming system for each game you play and then all saves will remain available. You'll probably find it useful to use a year designation in your naming to keep the files straight.

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

Thanks for the response. I was not clear enough in my query. I have RSII on Steam. There's a complicated process to load a faction, which involves adding its code into the Steam launcher. I did this with the Roman faction. But if I want to switch to a different faction, I assume I must go back to the Steam launcher and add that factions code in to replace the one for Rome. If that's correct, then that faction should then be available on the start page once RSII loads. My question is, do you only need to load a faction once and then its set up or do I need to go back to the Steam launch and replace the new faction with Rome in order to either start a new game or load another one?

I generally just go into steam and change the name of the campaign i want to play. I have to do it every time a play a different faction, but it isn't that annoying.

Ahh - sorry, don't have RTW on Steam and therefore have never come across that detail - I just use the RSII Launcher.

RTW2, however, will sadly be a different issue - and I am sure will come to give me even more reasons to dislike Steam more than I do now. I'm rather more of the type - buy game, install on PC and play whenever I wish - without having to ever be connected to the internet if I don't want to. Using a (perhaps another) PC to get DLC (and then installing it discretely) and even paying for it - that's just fine; but not the rest.......

To obtain the game from Steam (naturally), but moreover to even use a game you buy in a Store - you must be connected to the Internet to install it in the first place, let alone get any updates.

Connecting even once is no good for a standalone PC - the most stable way to play RSII or indeed any game (that isn't multiplayer or online, of course).

You have to be connected to the internet to install RSII and get updates too.
