Default The Release: Will We Be Able to Play the Very First Day (at average download speed)?

G'day TWC, how's it going? The clock keeps ticking and we're getting nearer and nearer to Rome II. It sounds almost impossible that an entire year has passed and we're just two weeks until the release.
But the question is, do you think we're going to have any chance of playing it the same day of September 3rd? Initially, the game's going to be downloadable (released) at 6pm GMT. Or will it? Some say we could pre-download the game long before 6pm, and get the game almost instantly then, though others disagree. I've already posted a thread discussing the boxed/digital pros & cons, and it turns out that both offer pretty much the same deal.
Whether you buy the boxed version on September 2nd, you couldn't technically be able to get the game until it releases (at 6pm, Sep. 3rd). On the other hand, digital goes almost the same, though you'd have to download it instead few hours earlier. Let's not make this a new 'Boxed/Digital' thread.
So, for the last time, do you think it'll be possible to finally play the game on that promised day? Is all the "pre-download" discussion true to you?
Thanks for spending the time on reading this,
    Cheers!

I'm 99.999999999% sure I will be able to play it on the evening of the 3rd of September. My CE Edition shoud arrive at around 6am (unless it's late at which point I'll proceed to find and do horrible things to the deliverer) before I go to school. I'll pop it into my computer and start installing. The PC will be on for the whole day (it's a special day so my dear will have to endure it) as to download all updates and patches that were not included in the box. And then, if I happened to come home later then 7pm (CEST here) I could always use my Steam Iphone app to download all the day-1 updates etc...

From what I've read, I think it will be able to pre-load the game and that it should be activated somewhere on September 3rd.
However, I have not seen any official information on the topic so I'm not sure. Personally, I don't really care because my internet connection is fast enough to download it within the hour (120 Mbps). But what do you consider an average download speed?

FYI my connection speed is 300 Kb/s ( ie 3 megs). I live in Wales UK. I hope the patch is not too big, and like previous games the DLC data is on disk and all you needed was to unlock the code.

That's why you need to buy the boxed version...

if you went digital, it is just a matter of downloading the final few percent and unlocking it at midnight. you can do it and go to sleep or play after if you want. 3 megs connection is fine, it is what I had 5 years ago. just hope steam doesn't do one of those stupid full game redownload patches. now those would make anyone see red.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

@Kamikazee786 I don't think someone can get married while being in school, though who knows.
I just hope that, no matter what, we'll all be blessed for waiting an entire year for this.

It's two weeks guy, we'll be fine. A day or two preload at 300kb/s would probably make it, if that counts as "average".

its funny because you still need to download the content from steam, even if you get boxed.
