    Default Going Heretical

Does anyone know if you can choose to convert a catholic faction to a heretical one? I know the player can just no not do anything about heretics, but I think it would be neat to be able to go totally rogue, with access to new units and buildings.

I would personaly have liked the option for Catholic factions to turn Protestant, basicly you still get excommed but you dont have your economy and stuff ruined due to heretics.

you could have the option of converting your country to pagan/islam/catholic/protestant, and it'd be somwhere on your detals.

...Which is within the games time period. The Reformation started about 1517. If the game includes the exploration and partal colonization of the New World, it should include Protestantism.

Maybe in last 10/20 years of game time they tought that was not worthing lose time doing that.... Anyway, the idea is good, or maybe you can make heretic your official religion instead only receive penalties for it.

Never the less TW games are meant to let you shape history.

if you can build the right stuff to get you certain units earlier than history did... you should be allowed to bring in different religions/events that roughly happened during the game.

But why should you get special units if you turn heretic?

    heretic priests: BI priests really
    heretic missionaries:
etc. so on and so on

I don't see how going heretic is really any different to going protestant, from a catholic point of view. So really it'd be like being orthodox christian in game terms, except with more crusades at you. So really the only difference would be the ability to attack catholic factions without having to worry about papal retribution.
