Default Best possible SSD for Rome 2

I've been planning to build a PC for a LONG TIME in anticipation of Rome 2 and I was going to go for 960GB M500s after some advice from a thread from a few months back on here, but as a few new models have been released since then (inc. the Samsung 840 Evo series), that may not be the best option any more. So, what is the best SSD for Rome 2, now that Rome 2 is nearly upon us and I need to order these components? Is this different from what would be the best SSD for gaming on the whole i.e. Fallout, Elder Scrolls, past and present titles? How important is 4k random as an indicator of performance, because it's what I've been using. I want to minimise loading times, mostly. Is the M500 still the king?

Any SSD is fine really if its sata 6 and syncronous

I just bought a Plextor M500 Pro Xtreme 512gb for $399 on newegg int terms of performance and warranty there wasnt anything out there.

4k is more important than sequential.

    Regardless

Samsung 840 PRO or pick another brand
Crucial M500 at 480gb or higher
Plextor M5 Pro series = same controller as the M500 but tweaked for speed 256 / 512gb models are fine
Corsair GTX neutron w.e the F series that uses the LAMD controller.

just avoid Sandforce they still have issues dont support features they promised and in uncompressed data tests there performance suffers greatly.

I agree with all that, if money is not and issue I would go for the intel enterprise class series, the SC3700 is the best SSD out there currently, it just costs A LOT

The only drive I can TRULY recommend but cant find is a specific model from Toshiba which has some seriously astonishing performance.

I havent been able to find one state side however

still doesnt change the fact they pretty much are the best performing SSDs on the market.

I would still give the crown to the SC3700, best consistency that I ever saw in a SSD, I want one badly, the speeds aren't bad either. still they are a far cry from the pcie SSDs to come, since the ones we have now are just the 840 controller and the m500 marvell controller, good on its own but nothing to write home about

What purpose does the computer's SSD and HDD serve respectively?
I've read a little about them and know that I generally need them to run the computer, and I'm still don't feel that I understand their roles 100% yet, in particular the SSD.

SSD uses flash memory for extremely low latency and higher speeds but capacity to price suffers grealty HDD is the tried true old dog both store you data without one or the other you cant install the OS you cant install games or software etc.

The big draw to SSDs however is there massively improved performance

    For example

Sequential Read / Write these numbers are bollocks but
    my Samsung F3 1TB = 122MB/s Read / Write
    my Plextor M5Pro 512GB = 534 MB/s Read / Write

4k File size which is what actually maters
    my HDD = 1 MB/s or less
    the SSD = 36 MB/s

In terms of Sequential speeds the SSD is about 4 times faster
In terms of 4k speeds the SSD is 36 times faster

Faster storage medium means quicker loading times of data / os etc. less time transfering files etc in general the SSD due to its design and speed improvement makes for faster more responsive computing experience

HDDS however are still unmatched in price / capacity thus most users make use of both for the best balance of performance and storage.
