Looks pretty good.
It looks great. But I do wish the phalanx would be able to last longer than a few seconds against another phalax head on. A minute at least.

Peter:Three days? That's tomorrow! We gotta get going!
The phalanx animation and formation is brilliant! It's out of question.
But the speed of fighting worries me much. The phalanx v. phalanx (even their levels are much different). Is it possible to kill a lot of armoured people in 10-15 seconds?
Pike formation vs pike formation is usually one of the bloodiest engagements that can happen on a battlefield. And while clearly the game is speed up from what it would take in real life, casualties would amass very quickly! And for proof that one phalanx could dominate the other while taking minimal casualties...have a look at these bad asses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argyraspides
I thought the pike phalanx looked very impressive. I would have liked to see a hoplite phalanx versus a pike phalanx though![]()
Pretty awesome to see heir with CA staff.
Hope to see some info from him.

Animations looked fantastic.
Thanks for putting this together CA, never seen a company better at responding to fans!
Brilliant. This game is going to be amazing.
Let's hope they make an expansion about the Diadochi. Non-stop phalanx action!
I still don't see what's so special about phalanxeslooks awesome, of course.
Preorder cancelled because Brian Blessed didn't yell.

Phalanx vs. Phalanx is always brutal!
Its not the same century, but the impact is nearly the same:

The shields might extend it a bit, but greaves are the only thing different in terms of armor, and Spanish steel when the Tercio was used was far better the nthe steel the hellenistic states were using in the game period. Remember phalangite shields were only 2 feet wide, they helped, but a forest of spears will find places to cut and stab you.
Amazing video... The phalanx looks work very well...
God job CA![]()
The phalanx looked absolutely terrific. Great job CA and nice to see my faith rewarded.
But what I'm even more impressed with is how the horses refuse to charge into the spearwall, it's an enourmous step towards a more realistic approach in cavalry charging into spears and very well implemented. I like how once in a while someone would manage to get his horse crazy enough to actually try and charge between the pikes.
All in all this is still shaping up as the best game ever

All good, but. Soldiers must turn to the enemy. When a horse stands next they do not have to look straight ahead. Soldiers must constantly look back, watching the enemy.
1) Those soldiers are near to the horse, should beat him.
2) When the cavalry comes running from behind, rear part of the phalanx to turn around. before the impact, because they can hear sound of hooves

BTW Jack, have you considered making Roman Legionaries not throw Pilla from all ranks? In a study i had chance to read, it was pointed out that with default Roman formation (8x10) and maximum range for Pilla of 20-25m, would only first 3 ranks be able to throw pilla somewhere near the approaching enemy, while ranks 4-8 would throw them dangerously close to front rank.. In case of legionary charge, such throw from rear ranks would hit the own men..
