Nice phalanx.
Dropping pikes on the ground is a nice touch.
Amazing, the best rally point with a lot of good info.it answers to the worrying of the fans. Another rally point should be done for ramming : we are a lot to worry about.
Can't wait to break some phalanx with my roman legions.
"We will bring Rome to them not because of the strength of our legions, but because we are right"
"The Romans had left marble and stone, brick and glory."
Amazing video the phalanx looks so awesome, love the sound of them marching forward and engaging, those elite units against the levy pikemen just looked so much more intense than the weak units they were marching on it was awesome to watch.
They nailed it, in my opinion. Especially the Phalanx vs Phalanx battle - very impressive.
It's up to a game company to decide how resources are used, but as Rome 2 seems to sell well, I expect updates coming for a least a year.Is it the final product or not?
Animations look what I could expect in 2013, steady evolution. Good that it's the pointing spears that are anti-horse now and not spear-unit from all sides. This will change tactics from Rome 1.
The projectiles and their "puffs" (as they so famously have been named) at 2:30 was also very well made.
That was a more elite Pike unit vs. a Levy one I think the levy would rout pretty quickly.
My only real complaint are those puffs, intrusive and ugly.

That looked pretty good, I think my main tactic will be to attack everything from behind like a mugger.
Jack explaining phalanx + Adriana. How much better can it get?
Jokes aside, I really like it that CA listens to the fans requests. We asked for AI information, they give us a Rallye Point about AI developpment. People asked for unscripted battles, they showed us one. People have been crying for phalanx, now we get' em. I think nobody can claim anymore that CA is hiding the game from us. Now if you don't like what you saw, don't buy it (now).
Great job CA![]()
The phalanx on phalanx fun was probably deliberately shortened for the video. Can't see it being that short (even with elite vs levy) in the game proper.

(God I hope he does some VO work for R2).
Hi Jack, I am very happy to get this essential information! It is like you (your team) could not make it better! Congratulation for this design effort, also some horses refuse charge is more realistic but my look irritating for Rome 1 fans at the beginning. However I think good players may not rage a lot after a time they do not raid out a cav with an excellent phalanx move.
Thanks again! Next Rally point, hopefully we can get more about possible Roman formations like maniple, triangle, both testudo modes. And of course the answer for Multiplayer questions I sent to Will.

Problem is not the animations... they are fine (Beautiful Adriana did her job perfectly!).. Problem is there is just single melee stat no matter what.. so even if we see Phalangitai fighting with a sword, he still gets all the bonuses for the pike.. so even if cavalry avoids their pikes, it doesnt matter, because their swords would kill them anyway..
