Thanks for posting it but well, nothing new in it, and comparing Crisis 3 to Rome 2 is not the better way to make his point imo.

Nothing new? This is pretty much the first time that I hear at least that Rome 2 has TXAA.

    Which is very very good.
"It's bizarre though. Donald Trump, an ageing, orange skinned reality TV star with a history of selling steaks and conning people, a trophy wife and one of the most fragile egos I've seen pretty much just destroyed the head of the interventionist faction in the US State apparatus, Victoria Nuland, after literally becoming President of the United states. We must live in one of the more interesting timelines."

A little correction: 6GB of RAM, not 16. And GTX670. I asked twice. I personally didn't notice any frame rate problems, even after I went into options and put almost all options to highest. The girl in the author's photo and I spoke with Pawel Wojs. He explained why they have to cater for 32-bit systems and limit their memory budgets based on it - one of the reasons why armies are limited to 20+20 and not more.
He was hopeful though, that they would eventually move to 64-bit in a couple of years.

You wrote the article? Well if you did not notice any lag even with enabling almost all highest settings that's good news!

He probably meant on the highest settings. But still, I wouldn't take it as an accurate assessment, more like a rough prediction.

The author of that article has no idea what he is talking about.

"For full graphical appreciation with high tessellation and anti-aliasing settings such as TXAA, I would imagine you would need an i7 chip and perhaps a GTX 690 or above."

There is absolutely no way in hell this statement is at all accurate, author is clueless. And why in the hell would the CA guys put 16GB of RAM into their demo rigs???

TWC community fear not, you do not need an i7 CPU and a $1000 GPU to run this game at max settings. The author is evidently still drunk...

So, correct me if I'm wrong, Ironically by trying to cater to crapper computers they mean that performance is actually poorer on better computers? So Good rigs suffer so a crappy 5yr old office computer can run the game on medium settings

    Yeah this.
If you are to poor to upgrade the PC then you are to poor to buy games and dont have time to play anyway.
I want a dev with balls that makes a game with all the latest bells and whistles.
A game that makes use of a high end PC.

Old piece of crap computers are holding back good PC games.

Not everyone wants to sink a lot of money into buying a top of the range one.

My "Piece of crap" serves me pretty well.

    I believe you.
But it doesnt change the fact that old computers are are "bottleneckin" game development.

That why we need a dev with big balls who says: the old crappy PC's, lets make a game the way it should look.
Computers are dirt cheap these days anyhow.
Its not like in the 80's.

That was just selfish and narrow-minded. Besides, it wouldn't be sound business strategy because if only a few can play it, then only a few will buy it
To speed up the game development a revolution is needed.
I still claim that old computers are withholding progress.

If you wanna enjoy a cool game with fancy graphics you have to upgrade, simple.

No 64 bit? That's pretty disappointing considering they had a huge budget. B-but facial animations!

Although the overall detail was decent, when zooming into individual units there was a clear framerate hit.
Lol, sounds like my 4770K@4.0ghz will again go down into the low 20s fps when zooming in onto a huge battle like in Shogun 2. In Shogun 2, even when you just looked onto a bigger pile of dead bodies, fps tanked . Hopefully they have at least fixed that bug. And it's a CPU bottleneck since at the same time, the GPU utilization goes down to 50 or 60% while CPU utilization goes up.

I just clicked on this link, and my avast just blocked a trojan horse. Now I'm not saying this is true, could have been a false positive, but if someone could confirm also what I found would help.
So I'm not accusing this poster of anything

This is terrible news!!! Low FPS on that machine that they were using?? That's a high end machine, looks like everyone will lag no matter what their machine is. I was hoping things would change with Rome 2, guess not.
