Looks like it could be a lot of fun, though some of the hit detection seemed fairly rough in places.
I've seen better naval combat in Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars.
I did some research on smt that disturbed me and that is the size of those barbaric ships which is just ridiculous compared to the size of roman trireme. Viking longships were around 20m long while trireme were 40m long so i guess there smt isnt right. But anyway since this will be Rome fantasy war i really dont care anymore ...

It will be fantasy, because you could conquer arabia with germans for example. Does it looks more ridiculous than these barbarian ships ? So now, what happen if germans conquer athens and his ships ? Will they continue to made small ships ? or will they try to create ships which looks like trireme with the help of greek ingeneers ? I always play total war games as "what happen if ...."-games. You rewrite the history so yes, germans can have strong ships. BUT only if they do researchs (which will be more difficult to achieve than for greeks or romans) and the best greek triremes must be better than the best german ships. So I hope it will be difficult for germans to have this kind of ships, and I will be ok with it.

This is a great statement made towards an extremely ridiculous complaint.
Considering that the Barbarians never rose to power, like Rome 2 will "allow" players to do.
It's rather simple to understand that yes, maybe if a Barbarian nation controlled Europe that, oh, yes, maybe we should build a ship longer than 30m since we are the greatest nation in the known world.

Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse.
All war depends upon it.
Naval combat looks epic. :sunglass smiley:
In before prom rant on how "we" are disappointed in the historical inaccuracy of barbarian ships.
I would much rather have the battles be fast and arcadey than incredibly boring and clunky like in S2. I will happily take wonky hit dectection/soldiers jumping a bit too far if it makes the battles more fun.
Also, i wonder how long it will take before the butthurt "b-b-but the romans/greeks were so much better!! CA why do u give barbarians good ships!!!??MY GREEEEEEEEEEEEKS ALXANDER4EVER" comments arrive?

Sooo much better than shoguns water combat. I am with everyone else when I say I might actually enjoy navel battles!
here is better look of what i meant with size of these ships. Roman 45 m long Quinquereme one of the heaviest Roman ships vs two barbarian monstrous longships. Just to compare largest viking longships were 30m long.

It is because of the perspective. A few seconds later (1min 10s) you can see these ships are a litlle smaller than the romans ships. But I agree these kind of ships for barbarian must be very difficult to achieve for them. If not, a simple tweak by a mod should make them very expensive.
It's all about balance man, you can't fit so many units on a 30m ship it'll be so cluttered and chaotic it would look terrible. Add 10m to the ship and now you have space to play around with and the animations look good at the payoff of historical features that do nothing to stats and the game
