    Default Happiness in cities

It's been a long time since I played RS 2, and I decided to start again, so I downloaded the newest version and chose Rome to start with.

I'm in the game for a while now and I seem to have problems with keeping my cities happy. I used to manage these things pretty well and at this point my economy was mostly growing. In my current campaign however, my cities are unhappy and therefore need a large garrison, this garrison causes me to have high upkeep costs and it's slowing down my economic growth.

Is there any way to keep them happy in an easier way? Is this because of changes in the new version?

Strange enough, my african cities are not as unhappy as my Greek cities.

One more thing; my family members have trouble making babies, is there an explanation for this?

Poor timing, v2.6 is being released soon.

Build temples, wells, etc. to keep everyone happy. Check settlement details to see what the problem is and then build whatever's necessary. Use cheap units as garrisons.

Are your family members acting as governers or are they out in the field? If they are generals I think they are inclined towards the camp whores than to their wives.

Keeping settlements happy should be fairly easy (unless there's unrest caused by enemy spies) - you just need to build things that cost tax at the same rate as those that gain tax.

Babies can sometimes be an issue, it depends how the dice rolls (especially at the beginning). Best advice (followed through all the tests) is to make sure all characters get a Greek Physician ancillary. All you need to do is wait for someone to gain one normally, then if he has an ongoing condition but you remove/reallocate the physician, and then he'll re-spawn one - rinse and repeat and make sure they are transferred before death and soon everyone will have one and babies will ensue.

You can just concentrate on the ruling family if you want them to stay - and I've not run out of babies yet. Surgeons will eventually appear when Hospitals are built, but you will need a character without a Greek Physician to gain one. 'Retirement settlements' are often a good idea.

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
