Default How do you think Knossos will be represented in game?

    Hello all

Now we've seen that egypt uses units from the bronze age so why not getting the Minoan culture for Knossos for making them unique?

Now Knossos has a unique style from Minoan timeframe.

But historical in the timeframe of rome 2 they were an normal hellenistic faction.

So do you think they will try make them unique or do you think it will be a normal hellenistic faction?

Seriously, i visited the site of the reconstructed Minoan palace and it's quite special, but like you said: it was in ruins during Rome's timeframe, so it'll be a generic Greek faction and nothing more.

i think knossos is too small to have its own culture, I'm pretty sure it will have a few of its own distinct units though.

If it's a DLC mixed + chance to rebuilt the minoan civilization.
In the normal game it should be a generic greek faction with maybe one or two special units.

They may not bother with hisorical accuracy. They might have the labyrinth gaurdians or worshipers of the Minotaur. Bull headed helmets and a breast plate with a womens bare breeast.

    At least i can dream.

Well, there were still tons of Egyptians around and as far as I saw thus far the RTW2 unit roster is far less out of place than the RTW1 one. The Minoan culture essentially developed into Greek and Hellenistic culture. In Egypt you have an Hellenistic dynasty ruling still a pretty individual civilization and culture thus a fall back into a Egyptian rennaissance is not as misplaced since after several centuries of Persian and Greek rule that actually might be a natural reaction if native Egyptian culture were embraced.

And when the last warrior was dying, he said, 'We gave you everything, why did you destroy us?' And she looked down upon him and she whispered, 'Because I can.' "

Pointless post if Historical accuracy is our goal with this game.

And if Ptolemaic Egypt has native units in game then it's wrong.

Normal hellenistic, with kinda generic greek units recruitable: hoplites, thureos spears, peltasts, citizen cavalry, tarantine cavalry, cretan archers (based on interactive campaign map's local mercenaries list).

I like how people are claiming Egypt uses bronze age units because they modeled them wearing those hats. Obvious contemporary armor, weapons, and everything else, but because their hats match the sterotype of ancient egypt, its all bronze age.

How is that wrong? The Ptolemaic army included natives as auxilaries and sailors from the start, and later had the Machimoi in the phalanx.

Knossos will be hellenistic , probably with a good naval tradition.

It would be great if it was one of the unique maps, but I don't expect it to be since you can't fight a total war battle inside one building. If the palace could at least be on the battlemap I would be impressed. I had expected Gortyna to be the settlement on Crete, however, since that was the Roman provincial capital and administrative centre
