    Default MOS 1.50 Favorite Faction?

Unfortunately, of the three, I only know how to make a poll!

Which of the factions available for campaign in MOS 1.50 is your favorite? Feel free to reply with why! I know these have been done before, but I didn't see one specifically for MOS, and I haven't seen one done in quite a while (I searched).

Edit: I forgot to mention which one was my favorite! I love Eriador/Arnor. I like to play with Reforged Arnor from the beginning for the Arnor Militia. I think Arnor units look beautiful (Rangers, Infantry, and Knights on top of pre-existing Dunedain and filthy Hobbitses). I think they have an awesome location, with a variety of strategies available from the beginning. I think they're one of the coolest role-playing factions with Aragorn (his RPG quest is very rewarding!) and Gandalf, along with the mysterious ere associated with the long destroyed and now reborn Kingdom of Arnor. Their roster is diverse, and they're strong! Long live the true Kingdom of the North!

Well, the new Gondorian units are pretty badass, but I prefer the Elves(all of them)

I voted for Eriador/Arnor. For some reason I love Eriador. I think its starting position and unit diversity are perfect. One thing I need to mention is that when Aragorn gets the Army of the Dead, the campaign becomes very easy. They are insanely good.

Elves of Lorien. Previously (before MOS) my favorite faction was the Silvan, but the Lothlorien have similar if not the same units, better location, and IMO more fun!

Eriador is good times too though. Same with Dale. And Rhun. Hell, what faction isn't fun?

    Orcs of Gundabad!!!

So many great things about this faction, where do I begin!?

Starting location is amazing, you get to expand west and south (against Eriador & Dwarves) with OOTMM covering your back side (just make sure to help them defend dains against the dwarves coming from the east) and they have two highly profitable cities/castles in Gundabad & Carn Dum which both have mines which will get whichever generals you have there the Expert miner and eventual Geologist traits (+30% mining income).

Onto their units, everyone loves trolls, why not! Sure mountain trolls are amazing, and a lot of people dis the snow trolls because they have inferior stats and cost slightly more then mountain trolls BUT they only take 1 turn to make (as opposed to 3) and they give you yet another troll instead of waiting the ungodly amount of time to refresh! HOWEVER, trolls are not OOG's best unit! They have WARGS like the other orcies and I cannot tell you how needed this unit is for OOG and how awesome it makes their gameplay. Hammer and anvil is exactly what you should be doing with OOG. Use your amazing snaga stalkers (which only cost ~300 and have an amazing 11 defense with 240 units) to hold units in place and then smash into them with wargs. Eventually when you get trolls you can use trolls to flank and wreck havoc in the enemy lines and wargs to attack weak points as well. Another side point I want to put here is how everyone hates on snaga archers. Sure, snaga archers may be tied with the worst archers in game along with hobbity archers, HOWEVER, they are extremely cheap and have a 60 or so upkeep with 240 units. In early game OOG, snaga archers are youre main force of damage besides wargs, use snaga stalkers to engage enemies and then flank with your archers to pepper the enemy in the back. This is literally the only way to kill dwarven armies in the early going but luckily for you the main dwarf force is in the east which should be blocked by OOTMM I will say that of all these awesome units we arn't done yet. The orc halberdier is by far and away my favorite orc unit (well tied with the wargs ) as these guys are just SICK! They cost a meere 360-390? and their upkeep is in the 100s but they are awesome. With 7 attack and 14 defense PLUS the ability to form a spear wall they are amazing enough as it is, add onto that they have 242 men, also have a bonus against armor, AND they have a bonus against calvary, ummm can you say THANKYOU~! Orc Halberdier's are by far my favorite unit so far and they are plentiful and replenishment rates are great (only downside is they take 2 turns to train).

Playing as OOG is challening but fun. You're incredibly strong in the mid game and fairly better then Eriador in the early game with your only problem being the dwarves until you can field wargs and eventually trolls. Don't be afraid to use them snaga archers as they have their purpose just like all the orc units have their purpose. Eventually goblin warbands and orc fellers will have no use in your armies but throughout the campaign, even after turn 150 I was still using snaga stalkers to take punishment from more expensive units so my more expensive units can deal some hefty damage.

First of all, welcome to TWC!

And you make some good points with OoG. I think a lot of people were disappointed to see the stat values of the wargs and snow trolls lowered between the vanilla Third Age and MOS games. Personally, I never played as the Orcs of Gundabad in the vanilla Third Age, so I tend to agree more with you. I think they're still a very impressive faction. They can make a lot of money, especially as they expand into Eriador. The snow trolls are not as powerful as they once were, but they're still... trolls. You can do a lot with trolls, especially if you use them as the shock troops they're supposed to be. Same with wargs. I'm finding a lot more people using Snaga as pseudo-tanks, and I think it's an incredibly effective strategy.

    Good points.

Glad to see some people showin' Eriador some love. And I think the Lorien Elves are my favorite of the Elven factions, as well. Beta testing 1.60 now, and the Lorien Elves get a cool new unit. I think you guys are gonna like it!

I voted for High Elves, the elvish culture and warriors are simply epic. The High Elves are still my favorite faction.

Rohan is the only faction that I play in Third Age vanilla and Mos and other sub-mods,but damn that Isengard is more to overpowered, whit Rohan you don't have time to do anything, that Isengard full stack spawned close to Foldburg is way to much for the pleasure of the game,I like to build nicely and have a good balance whit the army and after 10,20 turns start the real war whit Isengard now i must total anihilate those bastards in first 20 turns,i even don't have time to see the superb Berserkers,I like the game to be extremly hard but whit Rohan in Mos is not any pleasure of building and living whit isengard tou can buil and do things only when you finish whit those Uruks. All the pleasure of a Isengard Rohan mighty war is lost,I wanna start whit Rhun and buil a godd Rhun empire and destroy Mordor and Harad.

Try playing Rohan on the new 1.6 MOS with D&C map, Rohan has a ton of new choke points that make them much easier to defend (I would know, im playing Dunland!). Also, try not to defend with Rohan, as your strength is calvary. I agree with you though that if Isengard focuses on foldburg in the first couple of turns, there's nothing you can do so let it fall but the next turn get your calvary and siege the castle right back but do not attack and wait it out, by sieging the castle you prevent them from walking into your lands and can play to your strengths. Once you churn out some calvary you can steamroll isengard while they are weak and then point and laugh at Dunlands horrendous units!!!

I play last version of Mos(1.60) and now they wanna conquer especialy that fort first i take lurtz down but that full stack of army that is spawned is to powerfull and another stack is spawned to atack gineard in the first turn i have to let gineard and foldburg go down, even take all my army frome those cities and leave them empty and preparing revenge.

Why is there no love for Harad?? They have a vastly diverse army and a lot of wonderful starting cities, plus they can really expand anywhere they want with boats!?

I had to look that reference up to get it haha. In response to your vote, though... all I have to say is:

"Gondor? Where was Gondor when the Westfold fell? Where was Gondor when our enemies closed in around us?"
    Tsk tsk... Very selfish, Gondor.

I love me some Harad. They just aren't my favorite faction. If you liked them in 1.50, you should really give them a try in 1.60. I beta tested them, and their use of boats has only gotten better. Chokepoints ftw.
