Here is the proof in the two advertisements below!

Build vast armies and take to the battlefield in real-time combat mode. Put your tactical skills to the test as you directly control tens of thousands of men clashing in epic land and sea battles."

    And....

"Feel the thunderous clash of battle as the Roman war-machine takes to the field in real-time combat. Tens of thousands of men collide in bone-splintering detail that you directly control."

You even made a thread about your complaint I see. By the way, CA was not lying. Depending on circumstances you can end up with tens of thousands of men on the field. They were also talking about what the engine itself is capable of. As far as RTS titles go, TW battles are pretty epic.

You don’t need a Crysis-slaying rig to take Rome II for a spin…

Shogun II was a veritable Crysis in terms of how it sought to humble even the beastiest of computers, but Rome II is primed to run on a PC that’s almost as ancient as the game’s epoch.
Even single-core processors are listed in the minimum specs rap sheet, with only a measly 2GB of RAM and a 512MB video card required to get the game off the ground.
Our demo session saw the game running – and running well – on a mid-range rig.
Meanwhile, owners of Skynet-like hardware can get even more out of the game.
A high-spec machine can enjoy up to 32,000 units on the battlefield during a single real-time encounter. If you’re seeking further glory and are willing to push your PC harder than your legionaries, Jamie casually mentioned you can tweak the preference files to double that number to 64,000.
There’s no better way to complement the recently released 30,000-pixel, highly detailed screenshot; granted, you should expect a stop-frame experience. But that’s not going to stop you. Is it?

Since my PC is mid-spec, having 20,000 units on screen is going to be nice.

I don't see enough here to warrant a thread. If you want to talk about unit sizes there are other threads for that.

    Defo trolling
    he posted this elsewhere:
You think a series will ever come out where we we can have realisticly sized ancient battles? 30,000 vs 50,000? these 3,000 vs 5,000 skirmish battles i thought the series would have progressed from by now.

And look at the bald faced lies in the corny advertisement of the game in these two previews...

"Build vast armies and take to the battlefield in real-time combat mode.

Now they are seriously making up some . Would have been cool if it was actualy true. The main thing i wanted.
