end game query

has any info been released about what challenges the end game will provide? a realm divide event wouldnt really fit, barbarian uprisings would be the obvious game mechanic to make the late game interesting.

Yes, there has. It's supposed to be a mixture of rebellions and factions attacking you but it all depends on past diplomacy and the way you interacted with other factions. So no barbarian hordes, which is out of the timeframe of the game anyway.
