    Icon8 Hillforts... AAAHHH!

    Hi,
i started a Belgae campaign and the hillforts are killing me!!!!!!!!!!
i downloaded the mini-patch and i don't see any difference, it even got worse after installing it!!
my units can't formup in outside of the fort! it SUCKS!!!!
    i didn't have this problem before... i'm using RS2.5 on RTW-BI| H/H | 0turn|the script is activated.
I have the problem when i'm sieging camelondunum(or whatever else, it's in LONDON's place) and i held them so they comeout of the city!
now they came out of the city and neither me or them can't move our armies! if i move my army all my soldier start running in a different direction and it's like i blew a bomb in middle of my groups....

i got so angry so that i pressed ALT+F4 and i calmed down and posted this thread.:|

    thanks for help.

Yeah, the hillforts are buggy as shite. Make sure you tell them where to go one at a time, and keep a close eye on them to make sure they don't go for a nice stroll towards all of those enemy spearmen.

Had a fort battle myself a while ago. The enemy got so caught up trying to climb over the walls that I sent up 3 units of infantry around the fort and up to the town square, cleared the minimal resistance that was there and then held the rest of them off from both sides. They still had 1500+ men and I lost about 40 altogether.

Yes, the hillforts are buggy. They're beautiful, amazing to look at, and inspiring to imagine taking. But every time I try take a hillfort, I end up quitting the battle because the men keep running into walls. Now I just auto-resolve the battle - unfortunately.

In my current Roman campaign, I'm auto-resolving about half my battles out of necessity. Hillforts, because they're bugged. Elephants, because they're bugged. Sieges, because the maps are bugged and the siege vehicles can't be placed. Battles involving siege weapons that get trapped at the edge of the map. RSII is amazing to look at and somewhat frustrating to play.

Here's to hoping 2.6 gets released soon. Maybe today?

@kennyworks there is a bug fix for the hillforts, dunno if it workes cause i did not fight in one
the elephants are just overpowerd and can easly be fixed,go to export_ desc_units change stats sec armour to 28/3/flesh and the are still hard to kill but not impossible.maybe lower their hitpoints to from 15 to 12
on sieges yes catapults cant move sometime,i noticed when you select them with a unit of infantry they can be placed.
my copy of rome is broke and can play no RSII for the moment, now i realy know how good this mod is and missed

i installed the mini-patch but it made no difference.
i tried to play it 5-6 times but everytime same bug...
    my troops don't move!!!!!!
the only way i can get them to move is to order them to attack(only melee attack)

Would you mind providing a save ? I would need to know your Exe., I would like to see your pathfinding troubles.

    dude i deleted the save:| i'll wait for 2.6:|
and what does save have to do with .exe and pathfinding!?

and FYI in my macedon campaign i attacked a dacian hillfort and i didn't have this problem only some issues that i always have when attacking cities (without mini-patch) on RTW.exe
this time idk it's from RTW-BI.exe or save idk.
in my parthian campaign that i played with RTW-ALX.exe i didn't have this problem because there where no hillforts there

dude, .exe has to do with replaying your save. If i do not know the .exe you are playing , i cannot load a save.

I've had the same experience. I strongly suggest returning to the old barbarian city-plan for 2.6.

I don't understand what's so hard with the hillforts... I like them and I don't have any problems at all. The strategy is simple. Every hillfort has 4 ways into it. Block those with one unit and kill all enemies that come to you. Then move forward to the centre. Works every time... Using an entire army doesn't work here, only small corps. And attacking does small walls around and on the hills of the fort is also useless, because the AI is so stupid and walks through these breaches and when you fight there it's clear that this gets into a mess and enemy units are stucked in the walls... Just don't do that and it will make fun...

Exactly! I ran into precisely the same problem the first time I tried to take a hill fort. Then I came to realize that being patient, moving one unit at a time with a clear pathway that is not obstructed by a wall is the best option to avoid headaches. I do share sympathies with nikzi76 about his frustration, since I was also frustrated the first time. But the hill fort siege can be fought so long as you don't just order your entire army to walk all at once in one direction or something similar.

the problem was not fixed but i won the battle easily due to the bug(tried to avoid the bug with not ordering my soldiers to run) now i don't have much problem i try to proceed more and see if the problem is only with LONDON or with other cities too. gonna reportback
