    Default Multiplayer and DLC

Me and my buddy wanna do a co-op Athens and Sparta. Now Athens and Sparta as many of you know is playable via the Greek states culture pack DLC on day 1.

Does anyone know if this will be playable then in multiplayer? If this info is unknown does anyone know if it worked similarly in the older TW games?

I would get VERY suprised if they weren't playable in multiplayer. They might even be playable without the dlc if the multiplayer is like in RTW 1 where you could be all factions in online battles.

That where pre-DLC time where you get such stuff FOR FREE within a patch or a big bundle of content as add-on.

Now it's in every game like this:

If you don't have the DLC you can't use the content.
If you have the DLC you can use the content.
A user with DLC can play with people that don't own it. (To give them a taste of the content but deny them to use it themself, to convince people to buy it.)

All PLAYABLE factions from singleplayer will be playable in multiplayer. If you own the DLC you can play the faction, if not you can't (but your opponent can if he has the DLC).

any source to confirm this? Or is it just your assumption based on previous titles?

I can at least confirm compatibility for the Greek states pack:

"The Greek States Culture Pack adds...three new playable factions...for use in Single or Multiplayer Campaign modes and Custom and Multiplayer Battles."

except that never really happened, you were lucky to get patches, extra content? haha, they rather released some shoddy expansion pack for the price of a full game that didnt add anything to the original

If i don't get the Greek DLC, will the Greeks still exist but just not playable?

Yeah they'll be there but just not playable.

i hope they are both playable in multiplayer and 2 players can both be Greek factions at the same time.

No, the landmass of Graecia will be a black hole, and any force that approaches it will be seen to plummet into the abyss created by CA's spite to all those who fail to pre-order Rome 2!

    Awesome!

I have a weird feeling though that multiplayer co-op won't let 2 people play in the same class of faction. Such as Britannic tribes, Gallic tribes ect. If we could get confirmation of Athens & Sparta or any other 2 factions in the same faction class/branch that'd be great

How do you came to that assumption?
There are only ONE playable tribe per playable barbarian faction. So offcourse only one player can play as iceni for example.
But there are 3 playable factions in greece and there isn't a mechanic that let the player unite them as "Greece". So yes offcourse, one player can choose the playable faction "Athen" and the other can choose the playable faction "Sparta".
So what is the problem exactly?

If your still uncertain wait until the game is out and ask other people if it's possible. You won't get any more information about that matter before release.
(Except one of the devs answers this specific question.)

I reached that assumption because in the faction selection screen it says "Rome, Carthage, britannic tribes, gallic tribes, succesor kingdoms... ect." Now I know also that you can only pick one faction in each (so far from what's been shown to be playable) but why bother grouping them like this in the menu if you can only play as one from each area to begin with? Anyway, my thinking kind of was, perhaps athens and sparta and epirus are grouped as such, and because of this use 1 political system or something where only 1 player can affect it.
