RTRPE Slow Down ?

I'm waiting for RTRPE1.7 before installing it again.

I've noticed that, if I use exactly the same video settings on both RTW and RTR, RTR has noticably slower fps than RTW in battles and on the campaign map. Why is this?

Ps, I play PE, so it's in the PE sub-forum. It could be RTR in general though.

RTR generally has higher graphical detail. This means your computer's processing power is being taxed more heavily than in RTW. To fix it, just lower a few graphical settings like anti-aliasing or something similar. When I get a new mod, I tend to load a battle and simply mess with one graphic setting at a time until I've found a combination that works best for that mod, you may be able to do the same

I've pretty generally played RTR with the same as RTW except with the grass off! What on earth possessed me to buy a laptop instead of a tower those two long years ago? lol

Ah, which reminds me: in RTR, the grass files have been modified so they are much denser than in vanilla. If you still have a copy of vanilla RTW somewhere, go to your data folder and copy across the descr_grass.txt file to the RTR data folder. That will take a huge strain off your computer in battles.

Sweet, I'll archive that file now. (I have a squeaky clean install of RTW/BI .1.6 ready for RTR 1.7

Erm, sorry buddy but it's against the forum rules to post vanilla files. Besides, I haven't been able to attatch things for a while.

I believe in the upcoming PE 1.7 release the original grass file may be included in the patch, I guess you may have to just wait till then
