If your GPU fails, will your computer turn on, if so what happens? Can the monitor just flash on and off, will it use intergrated system things? Will you be able to use windows 7 wih the aero affect

I used my integrated when my gpu blew and could get one to replace it. I don't remember if Aero still worked with it.
Depends on the GPU.
If the graphics card fails usually you will get no signal to monitor if damage is extensive sometimes the machine will not boot.
if the system has an Integrated GPU removing the PCIe graphics card and connecting the monitor cable to the integrated will allow the machine to be usable
on most of todays system Aero should work just fine. It does however require a GPU driver to be installed so if your Integrated GPU is a Radeon or Intel and you were running an Nvidia gpu the Nvidia driver has to be removed and the IGP driver installed for everything to work correctly. It sounds complex but is pretty straight forward. Open control panel uninstall GPU driver. restart install IGP driver restart again done system should work just fine with Aero.
Ive used the IGP multiple times when ive sold my current GPUs to buy new ones etc as i upgrade every year.
