Default Too many battles on campaign?

Hey I played both 2.5 and 2.1A from the Rome Campaign(both 1 turn and 0 turn.)

The campaigns are fun but once you get to a certain time in the game it becomes so boring. Battles are not even decisive even on 1 turn mode. The enemy usually exhausts its wealth till it has a massive army. I invaded Pontus and they had over 5 stacks in the same region, so I got an "army group" of over 7 stacks and defeated the entire Pontic army in that region around Byzantine.

After I pushed further an inch East......more Pontic full stacks.

The battles don't even feel like Ancient battles were one or two decides a war....this feels like Modern Warfare were tactical battles don't even matter and state attrition and "Army Groups" are spread over a map to dominate an area rather than a single army.

Is this mod where cost increased(Massively) to get past this innaccuracy?

If u want less battles then u can make a few changes in background_script.For example you can remove the money scrip or the script who spawns armies when the nation is in danger;like this u will have a lot fewer battles, beacuse AI will have less money for armies and he won't recieve "free armies" anymore.

I found it but how do I delete is? All I see is a list of numbers and words? Do I have to delete a whole sections of "Empergency stats."

I am playing Rome 1 turn 2.1A currentley. Is this save game compatible?

Yes you have to delete that list of numbers and words.About the save-game compatibility i am not sure :-?,but it's better to start a new campaign.

EDIT:Make a back-up of the files, incase you delete something wrong.

I'm okay with the number of stacks, so long as I'm playing Rome (I've not tried the other factions). Roman units are so strong that they can kill about anything on the map. I just fought a battle with the Boii who attacked me with almost 5000 men against 1 legion - and the legion stomped them!

What's more annoying is the way the AI sends out piddly stacks of four of five units that I just stomp, while hording its larger stacks around a city, as the OP suggests. But I imagine one reason for this is reactionary defensive - the AI is trying to much the number of stacks I have before launching an attack.

this interests me too, what exactly would we edit in the background_script? and where is background_script located?

It's in data/scripts/show_me,but u have to change it for each campaign if u play 0 Turn. And about what u change then u have to delete:
    Emergency Armies - completley
Money Monitor Script(or smt like that) - only the 2nd part of script in which computer gets money;u can delete it all but like this you will have a lot of money, beacuse this script takes money from you when u have too much

While I love the unit and campaign details and overall feel of the mod, I have to say that I completely agree with poster. The amount of stacks and battles are just too much, it is a game breaking for me. I do hope 2.6 will address this issue or at least give us some options that will reduce the amount of repetitive battles.

Nevertheless, my sincere thanks to mod makers for their time and efforts.

The way i deal with the stack number is, as posted, use more of autoresolve when defending my borders with less important armies, and leading myself on offensive campaigns. As the campaign expands any player will have several factions bordering so it's easy to gets 2,3,4 battles a turn. Building fortresses on choke points also helps choosing the time for committing to battle, and keeping your armies near the border sometimes deters the AI from moving.
Also...planing ahead. Atacking with 2 stack will often lead to became bogged down as the AI send counter stacks to you, before you can get meaningful results. Campaign means for me 3 to 4 Legions and siege train to sometimes ( not always) bypass the garrison script.
