can't edit RS2 prefs.

when I click edit RS2 prefs on the launchers it says "unable to open file \steam\comon\rtwgold\prefs\prefs.txt" that is the shortened version.

Did you go to that location and see if you have a preferences.txt file?

Odd, well you could always open the preference file and edit it there.

You might have to give yourself permission to edit the whole game. Sometimes window's has restricted access to game files by default.

EDIT: ok so I thought once I got in there I could set forced diplomacy, does RS2 have that? I say where someone was saying as rome to trade a few cities in the beginning and I've tried but I can't make it tempting enough for the AI to accept so I wanted forced diplomacy.

Select a diplomat and enter negotiation with a city/army. Hit the question mark in the upper right hand corner of the diplomacy screen. Next hit the show me how button. Forced diplomacy is now activated, you'll have to do this every time you enter negotiations.
