    Default Eriador cannot recruit any units, if I delete scripts

    Hey,
    Dowloaded TATW and been playing it for a while but encountering a problem and I need some help on the matter.

    I did all the neccessary requirements, 3.0 (both parts), 3.1 patch and 3.2. I also have gold up to date (im on disk btw)

    Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

    You haven't made any changes in the files?

    Usually Eriador at the start of the campaign can't recruit units for next few turns, it is made like that on purpose.
    American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..

    HI sorry for that I had'nt post five posts so I could barely write anything.
    And no, Ive played arou nd and I can only not recruit when I change the scripts.
    And yeah I know they can't but its not that, cause I have played for like ten turns.

    Are you playing with some submod?

    Be advised that deleting scripts on your own will cause these kind of errors or issues, unless you know what you are doing

    No, no submod.
    Stealth fox advised doing this in another post (deleting the scripts) I just followed what he said to do.

    Ive poked around a bit though, and if I delete any script at all in Campign_script, the turn is faster but Eriador cant recruit.
    So im stuck between choosing fast turns without Eriador being to recruit or slow turns with Eriador being able too

    Have you deleted map.rwm file in your ..M2TW/ mods/ Folder where Third Age is installed/ data/ world/ maps/ base folder?
    You have to do it cause changes made in campaign_script won`t make an effect unless you delete map.rwm file, and, start a NEW CAMPAIGN.

    So anyway, when I played campaign I found the turns were very slow, (At the point Eriador could recruit units) so I looked around and saw a fix which was to delete some scripts from campaign_scripts. This did fix the slow turn problem. However when I did this I discovered Eriador can no longer recruit any units at all (even when I am another faction). I played around a bit and it seems if I delete any script at all, doesnt matter which, in campaign_script Eriador can't recruit units.

    So yeah thats my problem, I do really really enjoy this mod and it would to get this sorted out cheers.

    Yep, tried it with that and without that, starting a new campaign with each time I tested a solution.

    Yep no effect, it has something to do with the script I think cause if i delete one it works fine :/

    OK, maybe it`s a wrong install..
    1. What Windows do you have? If you have Windows Vista, 7 or 8, did you change security permissions for your main M2TW folder ( this is important to do )?

    2. Is your M2TW Steam or non steam version?

    Go here ( LINK ) this is a thread with pictures for proper installation, and these steps you need to do:

    1. Edit security for your main M2TW folder, unhide hidden folders, check the Virtual Store and delete M2TW folder if you find it there!

    After you do this, restart your PC and test your game again, if it works, continue playing and just do the step 4 bellow.

    If it is stil the same thing, then procced with these steps ( step 2, 3 and 4 bellow):

    2. Delete manually Third_Age_3 folder from your main ..M2TW/ mods folder.

    3. Install all four TATW Installers to your main ..Medieval II Total War folder ( all four Installers have to have the same installation path, and it has to have Medieval II Total War at the end of installation path )

    4. For battle crashes, disable daylight saving, go to your Clock ( Time and Date ) Time Zone, Change Time Zone, and uncheck ˝Automatically adjust daylight saving setting˝. Apply and OK.

    Good luck!

    Ok thanks a lot ill try this and if not Ill just cut my losses and play without eriador recruitment.

    Ok, I thought I couls cut my losses but apparently not. First thank you, the game does look a lot more complete in the folder and I can recruit Eriador units
    Unfortunately I still have really long end turn waits. I tried to delete some scripts but (unlike before) nothing has changed :/ so I'm not sure now

    Hmm, don't know what else to recommend, maybe updating Kingdoms to 1.5(1.05) if they are not already updated. But that would also require reinstalation of TATW after you update Kingdoms.

    How long are your turns?

    Yeah, no that's all updated.
    Around two minutes, but its like the turn ending makes loads of lag because I can't even pause it. Or if i try to look around it does'nt.
    I think though that when I delete the text and then started it didnt take affect. I did a test and deleted the Palantri text (which I'd assume would get rid of the palantri concept) but it didnt :/

    Well, maybe someone could give you a tip regarding deleting scripts ( BUT FIRST, make a backup of files which you will try to edit) There is a thread called TATW Modding Questions and Help in the main TATW Forum, maybe Mank or Withnar could give you some tip.

    Also, you could try to change screen resolution in TATW Video Options to 1024x768 and see does that help. Also, turn on v-sync.

    All right cheers, it just seems weird because when I edited the script before I did that method you suggested it worked. It just seems odd but ok. thanks for the help dude

    There are probably some permission issues that is preventing you from saving the changes. After you delete the scripts and save it, open it back up and see if it was actually saved with the deletions or if the file restored the scripts back.
