Can't move siege equipment on battle map?

I hope I'm wrong, but I think I have another issue. I can't to deploy siege rams - used to break down gates and walls - or towers on the battle map when I fight a siege battle. I can deploy any men - just men and cavalry - anywhere within the red deployment area. But rams and towers are frozen where they appear. I have to start the battle, then move them to where I want them.

Is this intentional or a bug?

It is a bug - and for most settlements where this has been identified it has indeed been fixed in almost all cases (v2.6).

It has to do with trees encroaching. At least you can move them afterwards.

However, in most cases there is also a 'fix' for just about anywhere that remains. Click on the siege engine and any other 'normal' unit and then position them together where you want the engine to go, and then move the other unit elsewhere to where you want it to go. This tends to work.
