Strange crash when loading a new campaign. details inside

So i get a strange crash (game not responding) a freeze and requires me to close down the game via cntrl alt delete. What happens is i get past the intro clips then on the loading screen the loading bar fully loads but then keeps going, the progress bar keeps moving off the screen it's very strange.

all custom battles and quick battles work fine however trying to start any campaign results in this crash.

I am running base game 3.2 no mods have done re installs.
