Default Laptop Loses Wifi Instant Power Cord Unplugged

I need this to stop, since I just finished raging after being disconnected from a really good game of TF2 because my pug decided it would be fun to trip himself.

I have a Gateway laptop running Windows 8 OS, where do I have to go in settings to tell it that it's ok to keep wifi running even if I'm not plugged in?

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Click on power plan or whatever gateway calls it

Then it will be somewhere under -> Change plan settings -> Edit plan settings -> Advanced power settings -> hopefully somewhere along the line a wifi option appears which you can change for unplugged.

that would be awfully strange, the wifi will keep connected no matter what power plan turns in

my guess is that the airspace is extremely congested or your router is starting to be like mine, a pile of electronic garbage

I don't think congested airspace or a bad router would coincidentally always cause wifi to cut out when the computer is unplugged. I'd guess it's somewhere in the power plan, but it is strange. That wouldn't be a default setting.

and there is never a power plan that by default would kill the wifi
