    Default building a Campus Martius

I'm having trouble building a Campus Martius is some cities and was wondering, is it just not possible to build them in some cities? I was able to build one in Pella and Edessa but I can't seem to build one in Thesselonike. I've looked at the buildings time and time again and it seems like I have all I need so I should be able to build a Campus Martius but it isn't there. I've noticed the building manager in this game is kinda messed as it doesn't show all the buildings, and even if I click the buildings tab on some cities it doesn't show all the buildings I have in that city. This is post reforms. I've even built the Citivas and army rations, every building I can think of that I built in the other cities it's just not showing up.

I had some problems with buildings too, in Rome or maybe it was Capua, when you build the population boost buildings, you cant demolish them because they dont appear on the building list

Check that you have Army Rations, weapon metal import and not precious metals and civitas

yes I have all the right buildings. These are settlements in Greece and I have the exact same buildings because I can't build them anymore. I have all the right barracks as well but it stops at the third one.

Are you positive there isn't a Precious metal imports building? Take a screenshot of the buildings that are already built.

yup it's the weapons, and I've built the roma oppidum provincal. when I right click on the Campus Martius in another settlement it doesn't show that it has any requirements even though I know it does. not sure how to post a screen, I can take one but where to upload? also I've noticed, in some towns for example Pella, I have the Campus Martius, I was able to build it and I can recruit the units so all is well, but if I click the buildings tab in the settlement it doesn't show it anywhere so if I wanted to demolish it for some reason I couldn't

I think i figured it out. Did you build "fortified city"? If economic is built then you have to build the "economic and fortified city".

I did build fortified but it's the military fortified not economics, I do still need to build the "both together" though, perhaps that could be it? how would I go about posting a screen? I've got them just need to post

Edit: I may have figured it out if these links work, each pic is the same city but I've scrolled to show you the buildings I have and what I can build

Edit 2: I check my towns and 2 of my other cities in Greece only have fortified regions and not both and I was able to construct the Campus. Maybe it's required in some cities and not in others. I suppose I will build it next and see if it opens it up.

You don't have citizenship, build the market and then citizenship will be available to build.

OMG I can't believe I missed that!!!! LOL tyvm. I figured I was missing a building in there somewhere, there's so many it's hard to keep track to build all the buildings lol. again TY!!!

Edit: I actually have one more question. In my cities outside of Italy If I build the Roman Fortress it says I actually lose units, is this true? Is there any reason to build beyond the Campus Martius in cities outside of Italy?

You lose the units that you would have been able to recruit from client states (I think you can recruit them with a citizenship also). Example, Celtic Archers or Massalian Hoplites and all those auxiliary units. I'm pretty sure that's what you mean anyways. There is always a reason to build a Campus Martius.

The Post-Marian 'Generic' 1st and Normal Cohorts are what are enabled from the Campus Martius in v2.5 (there are some tweaks in v2.6) outside Italy. When you upgrade to the Roman Fortress, however, you lose those and gain the Early Imperial Legions (the first 12 'named & numbered'); dependant on AOR. Further upgrade to the Curia Hostilia and you then gain the Late Imperial Legions (the other 16) as well as the Late Auxilia.

In v2.6 (unless it's changed) there will be a better managed 'Augustan Reforms' (building the Circus Maximus in Roma), which removes the 'Generics' and transitions completely, so that Oppidum Lvl3 (everywhere) will enable Late Auxilia before legions and before Citizenship - which is more accurate.

The Player will remain completely in control of the, now, 3 proper 'periods' ( Early/Middle Republic; Late Republic; or Imperial/Principate) and can choose to enable them, or not.

I just wanted to make sure I still gained the next units. When right clicking on the fortress outside of italy it just says I lose the cohorts, it doesn't show the new ones like the fortress in italy so I thought I lost units without gaining, I'll post a pic

Here's what units you will be able to recruit with the fortresses in lieu of the Roman Legionaries.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So in Edessa, you will be able to recruit the IV Flavia Felix. This means that those units can ONLY be retrained in the regions wherein you have a Roman Fortress and are in the correct AOR.

Just to confirm - for thanks to High Fist you can see the list repeated (and it's changed a little in v2.6)....

The Roman Fortress in Edessa (because there are no Early Legions (numbered 1-12) recruit-able there is a stepping stone to the Curia Hostilia - so you will indeed 'lose' some units when you upgrade. As noted, this will change in v2.6 (iirc) and the Curia Hostilia will no longer be strictly necessary.
