    Default Attention ALL!!

Okay, I want to know which of my computers to upgrade, I have three. Two compaqs and one hp. I'd like to know which one you guys feel that I would have the most success fully upgrading, because I'm not sure exactly which one to upgrade, although I don't want to upgrade my HP.

Pics of the two that I DO want to upgrade:

Older Compaq to the left, newer to the right:

Naturally, you would want to upgrade the newer compaq, assuming that of course it has a newer and better motherboard. It all depends on what features and limits your motherboard has and how much you are looking to spend.

If you want to go with a new motherboard, then you should just buy a new case, and then harvest the parts from the newer compaq, if usefull, for building your new computer.

That newer compaq looks very much like the one i have now. It has an agp 8x, so you could upgrade graphics to virtually any card out there. I recently bought a X1600, and added mroe ram, and my comp seems to work great. RTW is working perfectly, and so are other games; my overall computer performance soared too.

Both looks like they got an AGP slot, and I think both got DDR ram, but thats all I can tell. You need to post some specs, like CPU, socket, ram...etc

This program will tell you everything you need to know about your computer.

    Adnin,

I just upgraded my old PC which is exactly like ur newer compaq to a DIY PC based on Core 2 Duo... watch out for the form factor and component fittings because Compaq/HP customise everything to their own standards so that u buy everything from them... the mobo above for example is u-ATX factor which will limit you in ur choice if you want to upgrade it to newer processors (AMD2 and Conroe)... The PSU above is probably 250W which is the one I have in my old Compaq PC... useless for todays VC/processor requirements

In the end it was cheaper to buy everything (including case) to my own requirements and give my old compaq away to my partner as a nice gift and of course to use it as my test bench/client PC

Yep, how much are you willing to spend anyways, if its $500+ then it might be better to just get a new PC.

Alright, thanks all. I have one question, can you guys like try to help me find parts to build a whole-new PC. I want to just start from scratch and build my own instead of salvaging parts from my old computers, maybe just their CD and DVD drives.

I want to keep it all at a reasonable price for a 15 year old. Also, are ATX micro mother boards compatable with ATX Mid tower cases?
